The WBC green belt holder is named Deontay Wilder, and he returns to the ring this Saturday, the 18th to take on his #1 ranked mandatory contender Dominic Brezeale.
Dominic was faced with the same sort of task only a few years ago against the IBF (and rest of the organizations) champion Anthony Joshua. That demolition job was Brezeale's only loss, but it showed that there was a vast difference in level from rank 2 to World Champion.
Wilder must not only win this fight, but he must win convincingly. This is not nearly the test that a pure pugilist like Tyson Fury posed, but it will put Wilder firmly in place as the reigning heavyweight champion and the man to be beaten. A lot of words have been said between the two...

https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmUFciKR2oQ9fEisuGaefx8rU3w2CwNncEUABX7NgguWPH/unnamed.jpg

There seems to be familial beef between the fighters. Brezeale's wife and Wilder's brother were involved in altercations on separate occasions and Wilder's brother even sucker punched Brezeale in front of his family and dropped him to the floor. There is real bad blood for this upcoming affair.
Wilder has even gone as far as saying that he wants a 'body' on his record, and the least he could do for Brezeale is to pay for his funeral. Deontay saying such things can be good for the face of boxing in the eye of the general public, but it does bring eyes and sell more tickets.
Anthony Joshua has said in a short interview that Deontay is clever, and he's fast and elusive enough to hit the opponent with hard shot they most likely can't see. If Wilder can hit one of the most extraordinary heavyweight movers in Tyson Fury, he will be able to connect on D. Brezeale.

https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSYKjbVyq2fT51n9Q83cNXRi1yqmY16RMsfbM5hD3zdYz/unnamed.jpg

The series of press conferences and interviews leading up to this May 18th bout have made me very excited as a boxing fan. Regardless of how many dark works they've spoken are true or not, both of these big men are going to be swinging for the fences, and somebody will fall!
Both men seem very confident in their capabilities, and Brezeale's only loss has come to Anthony Joshua all the while Deontay has only drawn with Tyson Fury all the while still remaining technically undefeated. Many are taking Wilder to win this one spectacularly.. but counting a hitter like Dominic out would be a mistake.
What's most hilarious is that the odds for Brezeale to win are not far from his odds of attaining a knockout. Usually a result will give the bettor better odds, but here, Brezeale can really only win via fluky knockout so the sports books know that. I'm taking Wilder by early knockout in this one, who ya got?!

https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWK5E9BafSVDCmRdRFrhBwrMAhForkCXCBpeGVnrr6B99/unnamed.jpg

Thank you for following @steemsports and you can find me @brandonk

This is a @steemvoter subscription payment post.
