After caffeine intake he begins to compete with receptors in the brain with adenosine. What is adenosine receptors higher, we have a greater sense of fatigue. After caffeine, caffeine begins to compete with adenosine receptors and when they caught the receptors we feel less tired.
The problem in the whole story is that the intake of caffeine creates new receptors for the uptake of adenosine, which requires a progressively increasing amount of intake of caffeine to obtain the same effect.
Caffeine besides increases the production of adrenaline, which consequently affects the levels of dopamine. It prevents the reabsorption of dopamine which gives a feeling of happiness
Let's get to the interesting part and that is the connection between caffeine and athletic performance.
Caffeine as a stimulant of the central nervous system has a significant effect on athletic performance. Its properties have shown effectiveness in eliminating physical fatigue and preventing sleepiness. Sharpens concentration, improves coordination, attention and keeps you awake. In sports, caffeine takes place in the category ergogenic means, therefore substances that improve performance, either in training or through the competition. It is an excellent and useful addition to all endurance sports, both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. It stimulates and improves sprinting ability, for example, cycling or running, but due to strong activity in the muscles, it is extremely useful in cycling as a supplement to the overall effect.
Caffeine consumption, increased levels of fatty acids in the blood increases the ability to use free fatty acids as fuel and thus preserve valuable stocks of carbohydrates, which also encourages weight loss.
Although caffeine has a proven positive effect on the body, it is necessary to be moderate. Otherwise, if we went too far, we can experience and the negative side of this, in principle, useful substances.
In excessive amounts, caffeine can cause hypertension. Also, stimulates increased urine output, therefore should be prevented in an adequate fluid intake. In people who are not used to consuming, higher doses can cause irritability, psychomotor restlessness, diarrhea, insomnia, anxiety, arrhythmia.
The recommended daily dosage for adults is about 250 mg, 30-60 minutes before a competition or training recommended intake of 150-200 mg of caffeine. Taking large amounts of caffeine (more than 400 mg a day) can damage your health and cause intoxication in the body and cause undesirable side effects.
There I was riding the Tail of the Dragon and I had no idea I was doing so.
The section of forest road high up the Appalachians where I entered the 2 400-kilometre-long mountain range in North Carolina did strike me as extraordinary curvy.
It struck me, too, that the traffic was going ridiculously fast for the conditions. The tight bends were mostly blind and I feared as much for a head-on collision as for getting crashed into by the string of vehicles piling up behind me. At the few places I could, I pulled off to let them through.
The traffic consisted mainly of motorcycles and sports cars, ranging from small jobs to more muscular Porches and the like. At particularly tricky bends, photographers stationed along the roadside were taking pictures of the passing vehicles.
I thought I might have got caught up in some kind of rally until I pulled off at what the Americans call an overlook where a number of sports cars and motorcycles were parked along the road and people were enjoying the spectacular view of a massive dam glistening in the valley far below.
Enthusiasts line up to ride the Tail of the Dragon.
The spectacular view from the top end of the Tail
A greying biker detached himself from a Harley Davidson troop that had just rumbled up and ambled over to ask how I had enjoyed riding the tail. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about. Realising I was serious, he called over his friends and they all shook their heads in disbelief.
Bikers come from all over for the ride.
Bikers in particular, but sports-car enthusiasts, too, I learned, came from all over America and many parts of the world to ride the Tail of the Dragon, as the road is called that curves high along the mountain between North Carolina and Tennessee. I learned, too, that the 17.6-kilometre section of road has a total of 318 curves.
The sign announcing the start of the Tail.
I had traveled the route merely as a shortcut skirting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the Tennessee town of Gatlinburg from which we were intending to enter and explore the park over the next few days. But my biker informant told me the road ahead was closed due to a rockfall. He seemed almost pleased to be telling me the news. It meant I’d have a second chance at ridin’ de tail and this time to know what it was about. I would be undoing my sacrilege.
A resort where the Tail riders tell their tales.
I noticed the sports car drivers and cyclists kept standing around, obviously giving me a good head start as I pulled off in my little Ford Focus. I assumed they didn’t fancy having their ride spoiled by getting held up behind me. But they need not have worried. I felt my spine push against the backrest as I took the well-banked curves, and I thought I saw the photographers snapping away as I roared past.
Riding out ...
We eventually got to Gatlinburg via the public road that passes through the beautiful park. We met many more motorcycles along the way, some two-wheelers, others three-wheelers, and a good many in the most gaudy shades of gold, red, green and blue. Travelling mostly in groups, they stuck to the speed limit and showed remarkable care and consideration.
I noticed just about every inn along the way had large notices saying bikers welcome.
I was watching the Alanta Falcons Vs Green Bay game last night and I noticed something that I found odd.
Non US people will say everything about US sports is odd. And that's true, all the breaks for ad and I assume snacks, the intricate rules and the fact that commentators are even advertising stuff.
Despite this I have grown to love these and many other quirks, but what I seen last night I still can't get over. Here's a link to the NFC trophy presentation after the falcons green bay game.
And here's a link to the 2016 Premier league trophy presentation
Notice the difference? In US sports the owner of the team lifts the trophy to all the fanfare and confetti while in most sports outside the US the player/s, usually the captain, lift it. The owner will get his/her hands on it but only after all the players and coaching staff.
I don't know if this says something about America and how money talks. Money talks everywhere but maybe talks loudest there.
(When you're not here ;)
Some of my shots from Sunday's game in Ottawa. I posted a screen grab of the sheet and a direct link to the album too. I hope we have a few hockey fans on here.

Tom Brady will be playing for a potential record-breaking fifth Super Bowl ring and Matt Ryan will be trying to win his first. The New England Patriots abruptly ended the Steelers’ run by a score of 36-17. In Atlanta, the Falcons obliterated the hopes of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in a 44-21 victory.
Although they were both banged up, Julio Jones and Jordy Nelson showed up to play hard on Sunday. Jones, who had been battling a toe injury, caught nine passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Nelson played with broken ribs sustained in the win over the New York Giants in the wild card round of the playoffs. He finished the game against the Falcons with six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
The Atlanta offense proved to be too much for the injury-riddled Packers defense. Matt Ryan completed 71% of his passes for 392 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. The Falcons didn’t turn the ball over at all, which added to their ability to wear down the Packers defense and put together one scoring drive after another. Atlanta punted only twice during the game – once late in the second quarter and once late in the fourth. Every other drive resulted in scores.
Green Bay made some early mistakes that turned out to be very costly. Mason Crosby missed a field goal in the first quarter that would have made the score 7-3. Running back, Aaron Ripkowski, fumbled in the red zone as the Packers were trying to cut a 10-0 deficit early in the second quarter. A deep pass by Aaron Rodgers late in the second quarter was also intercepted at the Atlanta 32-yard line. The Falcons scored after all three changes of possession and took a 24-0 halftime lead.
The Falcons extended their lead to 31-0 before the Packers were able to finally get on the scoreboard, but it was ultimately too little and far too late.
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will be leading their team against the Patriots in Super Bowl LI. This will be only the second Super Bowl appearance for the Falcons. In their previous trip, they lost to the Denver Broncos 34-19 in Super Bowl XXXIII, after the 1998 season.
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did it again. By defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers at home Sunday night, they’ll both be making a record seventh appearance in the Super Bowl – Brady as a player and Belichick as a coach. They’re 4-2 in the previous six appearances. The Patriots franchise now has the record for most Super Bowl appearances with nine.
Brady and the Patriots won the game with some style. Brady completed over 76% of his passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns. The Patriots had zero turnovers and great production from receivers Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman, who racked up 17 catches for 298 yards and three touchdowns. They aggressively attacked the Steelers defense the entire game, foregoing much of their rushing attempts until their lead had become almost insurmountable.
On the other side of the field, Pittsburgh suffered an early loss of Le’Veon Bell due to a groin injury. With one of the league’s biggest threats eliminated, the Patriots were able to put more focus on the passing game from Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben was able to put up more than 300 passing yards, but Antonio Brown was kept from making big plays and was unable to score a touchdown for a second consecutive week. DeAngelo Williams stepped in to try to make up for the loss of Bell – gaining 85 yards of offense and scoring one rushing touchdown – but it wasn’t enough to keep the Steelers close or to put pressure on the Patriot Defense.
Both teams actually moved the ball well and were able to convert on third downs (60% for the Steelers and 64% for the Patriots), but Pittsburgh turned the ball over twice and had trouble getting into the red zone and scoring.
At 39 years old, Tom Brady has put together an amazing season and played lights-out Sunday night. He’ll need one more great game this season as his team faces a very potent Atlanta offense. If the Patriots can pull off one more win, Brady will be all by himself as the quarterback with the most Super Bowl victories in league history, passing Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw.
And now to the Free-For-All contest results!
We had a total of 36 contestants this week, which was less than the record 45 last week. The totals earned from the Preview post were 17.302 SD and 52.016 STEEM. I “converted” the SD to STEEM at a price of $0.153 per STEEM, which gave me an additional 113.09 STEEM, bringing the total to 165.106. I removed 15.106 STEEM to be carried over for the Super Bowl contest, so the rewards for the current contest totaled 150 STEEM.
The payout for each of the five statistical categories was 30 STEEM. These were the final stats and the winners for each category:
