body | "I didn't read this entire post, but I will say, I'm still asking myself, What is Steemit?
I agree that trying to include everything in the beginning is haphazard and could really get in the way with growth. If any identity exists, it's "Cryptocurrency news". That's probably the biggest group of people on here....
But of course, steemit is trying to be more mainstream......it's a crapshoot right now. I think there's not an easy answer to the question because if one kind of content is favored over others, then the 'others' abandon the platform. If we look at a platform that successfully built micro communities, look no further than Medium, but it's not monetized so people act differently. The money comes from centralized sources, so that is the main problem, the thing getting in the way of building out microcommunities. Whales are from a very small demographic..........there's very little diversity. This is the main problem I believe." |
