I am absolutely missing the logic here. The only thing that you're doing by not using a bot is you are not contributing to their growth and influence on Steemit.

No, you are not part of the problem if you're not using bots. Being part of the problem is using the bots.
Now, logically speaking, if one were to delegate Steem Power to a bot, then you are <i>potentially</i> not the problem. You are not using the bot. The Steem Power you delegated may not be used at all.
However, if you delegate Steem Power to a bot, and said bot provides upvotes to spammers and scammers and abusers, you are now part of the problem.
Further, if the bot you delegate Steem Power to is "reputable" and doesn't provide votes to spammers/scammers/abusers/etc., and actually provides up-votes only to minnows and others who are "using the bot appropriately", then you are <i>not necessarily</i> part of the problem. At the same time, you're <i>definitely not part of the solution</i>. You're effectively enabling an addict, and in turn, any negative effects are now able to be assigned to you.
<b>Full disclosure:</b> I delegate a small bit of my Steem Power to @minnowbooster. I have several reasons, but my primary reason is because I have had many conversations with the owner of the bot and I like how they attempt to prevent spammers / scammers / abuse with their bot. I also know for a fact that when abusers are reported, they act quickly and remove ALL votes from the abusers. I trust this type of activity and this person, therefore, I am willing to support this bot.
<b>With that said, if everyone stops using bots and my delegation is going un-used, I will be the happiest person on Steemit and gladly take my delegation back.</b>
