So today I've just translated an article by Leo Babauta from the mnmlist.com ["The Minimalist Question is the Important Thing"](http://mnmlist.com/) and I wanted to share with you the nuggets of wisdom that most resonated with me.
The thing is that ever since I embraced a minimalist approach to life a few years back, I've come to realise that the questions I ask myself have the power to shape my reality and my life.
From the most simple things like the clothes I wear, the books I read, the places I visit to the more important ones like the people I choose to be around, the work I do every day...on all these levels I started asking different questions that all come down to a single one: **"what is important for me?"** just like Leo says in his article.
And I discovered that it does help to start filtering out the important from the less important with the physical objects, like clothes, electronics, books or random objects.
Because while you work on these you start building the muscles for the more important stuff, the stuff that makes your life feel alive.
And I also agree with Leo Babauta that we shouldn't fall in the trap of norms and rules of minimalism, because this would not bring us the deep shift we're all searching for.
And instead, we should start exploring a few questions like the ones below:
- who do you want to have in your life? Do you want many friends or just a handful of important people?
- how do you want to live every day? Do you want to try everything or focus on a couple of things?
- what gives you a sense of purpose and meaning?
- what makes you feel your life is _alive?_
I'll let you ponder upon and explore these questions with curiosity and non-attachement for a definitive answer.
Because even if we might never get to a final answer (as long as we are alive we're constantly changing and evolving) but on the way there we are already going through a deep process of transformation.
And that is what matters...
Anyway...read also Leo's article if you have time and let me know what you think.
