Becoming fit doesn't happen overnight. It's a long, long journey - might as well say a life long journey.
That's why you can't focus on your destination, and instead learn to enjoy the journey.
Appreciate the little everyday successes and the efforts you are making . Celebrate the fact you made it to the gym, took that walk, found a new healthy receipe.
Find a friend to share this fitness journey. This can make a HUGE difference in your success. I'm lucky to have my husband on this journey and we motivate each other. But even if you don't have a person by your side, you can still find that friend. Join a fitness class and find a new friend.
@Actifit is a great group to get involved in. I've met several people since joining this platform that give me encouragement. Different ones run challenges that are fun and keep you motivated. And when you post your results each day through the app (which is motivating all by itself) you get comments from your fellow actifitters and you can see their successes (or struggles) as well. Not to mention the fact that you earn Actifit tokens for your efforts!
Another way to take this journey one step at a time is just a little preparation. I know it's difficult to fit in time for activity in our busy lives. But a little prepartion can make things smoother. Have your gym bag packed and take it to work with you. Don't force yourself to come all the way home from work to get your workout clothes, then be tempted to just stay home. If you're planning on exercising before work, have your running shoes and clothes laid out and a nutritional boost ready to make your morning as smooth as possible.
And one last thing, work on changing your mindset. Change "I don't have time" to "I can make a little time". Change "I'll never reach my goal" to "Wow, these pants are looser than the last time I wore them!" Negative thoughts have a way of becoming self-fulfilling, so give yourself a break and think positive.
Every journey begins and ends the same way, one step at a time. "
