body"> However, be aware that there is also a chance that I am pointing at truth, and it is up to you to see what I see, if you wish to proceed philosophically.
Been there, done that. I have been in shoes similar to yours.
What will you do when science is found illogical?
When Cern is shut down because scientists realize how stupid they were being?
I understand your desire for firm footing, but I also see that what you call a firm footing is quick sand.
I would never send you to a christian church. That would be like sending a nobel scientists to a high school class to learn about science. Most christians do not even know what is in their book that the prize above all other books.
Buddhist philosophies may be a good place for you to start. You just have to realize they cannot be thought of in a western way. If you do so, what you get is just a mess of pieces. But, it is still a place to start.
To illustrate, the Bhagavad Gita is not about battle, or war or killing people, it is about how the universe is structured. But almost every western thinking person reads it and says its about war and killing people.
The place where you start is meditation. First you learn to quiet your mind. From that place of peace, you can start exploring the universe.
Another interesting place to start is astrology. There have been many scientists who, at first, mocked astrology as superstition. But, it sucks you in. The science of astrology is so deep and complex. And the answers are so beautiful and intricate. I know many logical, scientific people who have gone there and never come back. It just explains so much.
The patterns that flow through time. You can think of them as seasons, but of longer and shorter durations.
I know a person who can basically guess correctly which month you were born by listening to you talk for a bit. Scientific? Yes, but no peer-reviewed research will ever be done on it. On one hand you have a group of scientist who have to hold astrology as superstition. (there can be no other explanation, else their world will crumble) and on the other hand you have a group of people that say, yeah, once you know astrology pretty well, its easy to guess someone's sun sign. (which is, guessing someone's month of birth)
If you can find a good astrologer, getting a life reading from them may be an eye opening experience for you. You will be surprised how much of your life they get correct. But then again, you may be closed to having this experience, and thus you will both, find a lousy astrologer, and will hear what they say incorrectly. (And yes, that statement really sucks, but that's the actual reality you have to deal with when there is free choice.)"
