Steemit is a complex machine with a lot of layers, it can be overwhelming for new users - most don't worry about witness voting until they've been here for a while. All votes are appreciated anyway, and if you don't want to have to track individual witnesses you can also set someone as a witness proxy on <a href="https://steemit.com/~witnesses">this page</a> and follow their recommendations automatically if you want :)
