When the quarter final draws was revealed, I believe we all have those that will qualify in mind. Compare those teams you had in mind with the ones left now. Juventus and Manchester City were the favorites to win their matches but none of them made it to the semi final. Well, Barcelona qualifying wasn't a surprise likewise Liverpool, but still the thrills and excitements in this quarter final is one in a million. The first leg of the semi final will be played on the 30th of this month and the 1st of April, so prepare for the worst. Before discussing the semi final, let's take a look at what happened in the quarter finals.

Liverpool destroyed FC Porto once again. They got a 5-0 win against them last season; as if that wasn't enough, a 6-1 aggregate saw them to the semi final this time. Liverpool won at Anfield by 2 goals to nil. Keita and Firmino were the goal scorers in the first half. Porto tried all they could in the second half but all to no avail. The second leg was the only opportunity they had to equalize and qualify, but Liverpool made it a nightmare for them. They have one of the deadliest attack in Europe, and as usual, those three scored a goal each. Mane, Salah and Firmino. Van Dijk scored their fourth goal though; a 4-1 lead ended the match and it saw them to the semi final.

Barcelona also won both matches; home and away. Unlike Liverpool, they were paired with a more dangerous opponent, Manchester United. But they made it look like they were playing a lesser opponent. Manchester United couldn't get a goal in both legs. In fact, they got no shot on target in the first leg. Barcelona wasn't great in the first leg too, but an own goal by Luke Shaw gave them a 1-0 at Old Trafford. They had to play the second leg in Nou Camp the day before yesterday. Messi's solo runs gave then a 2-0 lead in the first half, while Coutinho sealed it with a powerful shot in the second half. It's not everyday we see a 4-0 win on aggregate. Barcelona surely deserves some praises here. They will be playing against Liverpool in the semi final. Meaning Suarez and Coutinho will be playing against their formal club.

Ajax defeated the defending champions, Real Madrid. Rumors had it that they wouldn't have if Real Madrid weren't in crisis, so they were written off when paired with Juventus. This team had to show the world once again how good they are. Their win against Real Madrid wasn't due to Real Madrid's problem after all, they outplayed them and deserved the win. Same thing happened with Juventus. But unlike Real Madrid, Juventus couldn't get a win in both legs. They played 1-1 in Ajax' home and lost by 2-1 in their home ground. It was a bad day for them, but it was clear that the better team won. Ajax football team were spectacular in both legs. They will be playing against Tottenham in the semi final. This time, the whole world had no better than to underrate them. 

Tottenham shocked the world, I must confess. Even without their best player, Kane, they showed how strong and powerful they are. Manchester City is an attacking side; they can score lots of goals in minutes, and that's what they actually did in the second leg, but what we didn't expect was the replied goals from Tottenham. After Manchester City scored their first goal 4th minute, Tottenham replied them with two goals within six minutes. The match ended 4-3, Manchester City won but Tottenham qualified on away goals. They had won by 1 goal to nil in the first leg. It's the most interesting match so far. Let's wait and see what the semi final has to offer.
