How our solar system is formed? Recently, a group of astronomers has proposed a new theory that explains the formation of our solar system that took place 4.6 billion years ago. What's the theory like?
Before we explain further, you might think, "Ah, this is just a theory!". However, do you know what "theory" is? According to KBBI, the theory is an opinion based on research and invention, supported by data and arguments, or experimental investigations capable of generating facts.

In other words, the theory is different from the hypothesis, ie something that is assumed to be true for reason or opinion expression. So if an opinion or research has been considered as a theory, then it can be proved scientifically.
Back again to the topic of the article, the new theory of the formation of our solar system shows that the solar system was born from a gigantic star that shed its outermost layer.
Published in the Astrophysical Journal, a study of a group of astronomers at the University of Chicago, the US is eyeing the kind of Wolf-Rayet star thought to be the ancestor of our Sun. The Wolf-Rayet star itself is the largest and most brilliant type of star in the universe.
In his research journal, astronomers estimate that Wolf-Rayet stars that cause the formation of our solar system may have a size that reaches 40 to 50 times the size of our sun.
When the giant star sheds its outer layer - which is the final process of normal life for a giant star it seems - its strong star wind will form the surrounding bubble structure. According to research, the solar system is formed within one of these bubbles.
Because there is a large amount of gas and dust trapped inside these bubbles, "such bubble shells are a good place to produce stars," said Nicolas Dauphas, one of the astronomers in the study.
Before this theory, supernova events were seen as the "ancestors" of our solar system. After a star explodes, the dust and gases generated will collapse in the form of a protostar, which the prototypes will eventually evolve into our Sun.
However, this previous theory does not take into account the unusual findings in the early days of our solar system. It is estimated there are many isotopes of aluminum-26, but not too much of the -60 iron. This also seems to fit the Wolf-Rayet star.
"In fact, Wolf-Rayet star winds may be responsible for the existence of the previously mentioned aluminum-26 isotopes in the solar system," said Vikram Dwarkadas, one of the astronomers in the study. The Wolf-Rayet star itself does not have the 60-iron isotope either.
Aluminum-26 is most likely carried away by dust grains on the Wolf-Rayet star bubbles that ultimately now form our solar system.
The Wolf-Rayet star in the formation of the Sun and our solar system has now ended its life for a long time, perhaps it has exploded as a supernova or collapsed into a black hole. However, this type of star provides an interesting new theory about how our solar system began, and perhaps also how other star systems are formed.
