## <center>Oscuridad</center>
El pálido y débil brillo amarillento de la, desde aquí, diminuta estrella, se ocultaba en el horizonte, los pardos nubarrones que permanentemente cubren el cielo se reflejaban sobre la oscura superficie del mar de hidrocarburos que cubre buena parte de la superficie de aquel helado mundo.
Cuando se ponga la noche, por las doscientas treinta y dos horas estándar que durará, las heladas y oscuras profundidades permanecerán en la más absoluta calma, las innumerables criaturas de sus viscosos abismos, que bullen de actividad durante el día, cuando la superficie se calienta hasta el hervor, desprendiendo grandes nubes, que en pocos minutos ocasionan raudales de lluvias que agitan aún más la ya turbulenta superficie; permanecerán en casi absoluta calma, dormidas en un prolongado sueño, para preservar su energía.
Durante esta breve hibernación nocturna, millares de medusas de etano, los organismos más complejos de los mares, ocasionalmente romperán su inactividad, y en un lento vaiven, movidas por las leves corrientes, se desplazarán a las zonas más profundas a alimentarse, donde, en el lodo formado por las moléculas más pesadas, las diminutas criaturas encuentran refugio, hasta que amanezca, cuando vuelvan a emerger a continuar su eterno ciclo de vida y muerte.
A la distancia, un viejo vestigio del tiempo en que este mundo fue una colonia minera, una bola publicitaria se eleva por el horizonte, emitiendo sus letreros de efímeras palabras, que iluminan el cielo nocturno, promocionando la última bebida energizante, que estaba disponible en las máquinas generadoras, de los comedores de las plataformas mineras móviles, donde los trabajadores gastaban sus, difícilmente ganados, créditos.
Toneladas de material orgánico fue sustraído del fondo de estos mares, para formar parte de los proyectos de trasformación de mundos estériles, pero con condiciones menos agresivas que éste, con sus escasos cuarenta grados kelvin y situado demasiado lejos de su estrella, como para poder calentarse por el efecto invernadero.
Un mundo agreste he inhabitable, que terminaría dando una lección, sobre la capacidad de la vida de abrirse paso en los entornos más inconcebibles, tras cientos de años de explotar en fondo marino, la despreocupada inspección de un simple técnico, halló lo impensable. Diminutas criaturas que se desplazaban entre el lodo, surgidas de la materia inerte basadas en el etano líquido que predomina en su helado entorno, habían emergido de la nada, dando testimonio de como la naturaleza puede jugar las bromas más pesadas.
Hoy, más de cuatro mil años después de ese día, esas, primero escasas criaturas, han evolucionado aceleradamente, formando un ecosistema lleno de vida, en un mundo que ahora les pertenece y en el cual los humanos son observadores del experimento que la evolución, en él, lleva a cabo.
Las antiguas plataformas fueron retiradas y casi todo vestigio de la antigua presencia humana ha desaparecido de su superficie. Sólo una olvidada bola publicitaria sigue emitiendo sus ya borrosos carteles que flotan en la oscuridad de los nubarrones del cielo nocturno, iluminando la negra superficie del mar, hasta desaparecer, evaporándose al llegar el día.
Promocionando ya descontinuados productos, hasta que sea descubierta por alguna sonda científica de monitoreo, y finalmente relevada de su tarea, o su batería de isotopos de cobalto, se agote y caiga al mar hundiéndose en sus oscuras profundidades, devorada por el viscoso lodo, ahora lleno de vida, de su fondo.

## <center>Darkness</center>
The pale and weak yellowish glow of the, from here, tiny star, was hidden in the horizon, the brown clouds that permanently cover the sky were reflected on the dark surface of the sea of hydrocarbons that covers a good part of the surface of that frozen world.
When the night falls, for the two hundred and thirty-two standard hours that it will last, the frosts and dark depths will remain in the most absolute calm, the innumerable creatures of its viscous abysses, which are boiling with activity during the day, when the surface becomes hot, detaching big clouds, which in few minutes cause rains that shake even more the already turbulent surface; they will remain in almost absolute calm, sleeping in a long sleep, to preserve their energy.
During this short nightly hibernation, thousands of ethane jellyfish, the most complex organisms of the seas, will occasionally break their inactivity, and in a slow movement, moved by light currents, will move to the deepest areas to feed, where, in the mud formed by the heaviest molecules, the minute creatures find refuge, until the dawn, when they emerge again to continue their eternal cycle of life and death.
In the distance, an old vestige of the time when this world was a mining colony, an advertising ball rises over the horizon, emitting its signs of ephemeral words, which illuminate the night sky, promoting the last energy drink, which was available in the generating machines, of the dining rooms of the mobile mining platforms, where the workers spent their, hardly earned, credits.
Tons of organic material were taken from the bottom of these seas, to form part of the projects for the transformation of sterile worlds, but with less aggressive conditions than this one, with its scarce forty degrees Kelvin and located too far from its star, to be able to heat up due to the greenhouse effect.
A wild world I have uninhabitable, which would end up giving a lesson, about the capacity of life to make its way in the most inconceivable environments, after hundreds of years of exploiting the sea floor, the carefree inspection of a simple technician, found the unthinkable. Tiny creatures moving through the mud, emerging from the inert matter based on the liquid ethane that predominates in their frozen environment, had emerged from nowhere, testifying to how nature can play the heaviest tricks.
Today, more than four thousand years after that day, those, at first scarce creatures, have evolved rapidly, forming an ecosystem full of life, in a world that now belongs to them and in which humans are observers of the experiment that evolution, in it, carries out.
The ancient platforms were removed and almost all traces of the ancient human presence have disappeared from their surface. Only a forgotten advertising ball continues to emit its already blurred posters floating in the darkness of the clouds of the night sky, illuminating the black surface of the sea, until it disappears, evaporating when the day arrives.
Promoting already discontinued products, until it is discovered by some scientific monitoring probe, and finally relieved of its task, or its battery of cobalt isotopes, is exhausted and falls into the sea sinking into its dark depths, devoured by the viscous mud, now full of life, from its bottom.
