Months of seeing Easter, Halloween and Christmas gifts, food, decorations etc on display before they come is such a turn off.   Every adult  I know complains.   Profit is the driving force!  Nothing more and nothing less.  Clever marketing directs advertising to the children and young people, they know that it works!   We all live with the ongoing push to attract us into the stores to spend out money.   In many ways they are very effective, people are in the department stores looking and buying.   I am one of the interested shoppers!

There is another aspect that I think fits in really well in this whole concept oI buying and that is Deepak Chopra's spiritual *Law of Giving,* which he says is really *The Law of Giving and Receiving.*   Deepak talks about affluence, abundance  and the flow of energy at the level of the universe and on Earth with man.   *Nothing is static.*  He says that man and the universe harmoniously interact within an active exchange of energy, the flow of energy is always occurring, it never stops.   *"....stopping the circulation of energy is like stopping the flow of blood."*(p.28)   The premise underlying this Law is that it applies to us with the  receiving of  wages , earnings, money etc and then the paying for products, services.  We give and others receive.   Then it is vice versa.  So the economy keeps circulating!   If we hold onto our money and save is okay, it is more about hoarding and this when we stop the flow of energy into our lives.

The more you give, the more you receive and the trick is to give without the intention of receiving.  It is not only about giving with money, it is also about giving love, kindness, compassion and caring.  This is where Karma plays a role.  Do good with no set expectations of return and earn good Karma getting lots of love back or as some might say in jest you earn *gold stars.*   Giving does not always mean one has to buy stuff, it can be as simple as a chat over a cup of coffee or a wine, or giving of flowers, saying a prayer and giving a blessing when visiting a friend.   Never go empty handed is my mantra.

I wonder if the commercial world of shops know about *The Law of Giving and Receiving?*   Maybe they do because they do a very good job at suggesting what our nearest and dearest would like for a gift.  They pull the heart strings very well.  In the end it is about holding steady in this Christmas season of giving presents.  Little gifts work as does something that is personally made.   We do not need to give the shopping world lots of money. 

Receiving these flowers from a friend felt good for me.  I like receiving.
