Estamos a tan solo tres meses de que inicie la nueva magna cita del fútbol mundial. Hablamos por supuesto de la Copa del Mundo Rusia 2018, que ha generado grandes expectativas y una que otra polémica relacionada a las tensiones en las que se ha visto involucrado el país anfitrión en los últimos días con el tema de Siria, unido a las amenazas del Estado Islámico de atacar el evento.

Sin embargo, más allá de eso, la preciada copa será disputada entre 32 equipos nacionales, de los cuales el actual campeón, la poderosa Alemania, tendrá que superar duras pruebas en uno de los mundiales más parejos de la historia, ya que no hay un claro favorito dentro de los equipos clásicos como la misma Mannschaft, o Brasil, Argentina y España, además de existir equipos bastante interesantes que podrían dar la sorpresa como Bélgica o Suecia.

En este sentido, veamos 10 curiosidades del reconocido trofeo, que se ha convertido en el mayor símbolo de la excelencia deportiva para miles de jugadores y millones de fanáticos a nivel mundial.

>1.- Está hecho de oro sólido de 18 quilates con una base de malaquita.

>2.- Su diseño representa a dos figuras humanas sosteniendo la Tierra.

>3.- Tiene una altura de 36.8 cm y un peso de 6.17 kilogramos.

>4.- Los nombres de los ganadores anteriores están grabados en la parte inferior del trofeo.

>5.- Fue entregada por primera vez en 1974 a la Selección de fútbol de Alemania Federal.

>6.- Al día de hoy, ha sido levantado por 13 capitanes de seis distintos países.

>7.- El trofeo solo puede ser tocado por campeones de la Copa del Mundo y Jefes de Estado.
