The wide adoption of the cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology by all had led to it market capitalization growth in 2017. It was recorded that the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies grew by over 1600% in 2017 with over $600 billion. It has been projected that the market capitalization of same will continue to grow until it reaches $20 trillion in the year 2020.

The major reasons behind this *sudden* growth in the adoption of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology are the immense advantages it provides which many began to understand as against the previous notion that the blockchain technology is for those who possess great understanding or knowledge of its operations. Some of these advantages are:
* The liquidity of the cryptocurrency ecosystem
* The ease of entry for beginners
* The security decentralization provides as against the risks faced by centralized systems
* There are no monthly charges on the blockchain as against the banking system
* The ease of cross-border transactions without a significant change in the transaction fees.
* Etc.

# Cryptocurrency – the downside
Despite the great advantages the blockchain provides over the traditional market, it has its downside or disadvantage. Its market is vastly different from the traditional market, which allows skilled investors, through the study of the market over time and the use of predictable and time-tested economic and technical factors, to gain or make a profit. The cryptocurrency market is vastly unpredictable. This has led to confusions and increasing level of risk even for the experienced.

Because the blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency work on the principle of trustlessness, many investors have fallen prey to Ponzi schemes, pump and dump Initial Coin Offering (ICO), and other scams that have ripped them off their hard earned money and turned many almost penniless. This is because they are not well informed and they lack trusted entities to authenticate investments. Though there has been a lot of means through which these investors gather intel or information for investments, many of these means have proven futile and the result remains the same in the end.

Utrum is a platform that gives in-depth and unbiased authentic analyses on cryptocurrency assets, ICO and other investment opportunities in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
It is a platform that allows people with skills and knowledge on cryptocurrency investment to be authenticated with a designation of trust scores on their content and they get paid for the knowledge they share with the community.
