<center> ## I’ve Been Trying To Get Info On This Knife .. for quite some time now. It’s going on 30 years since I’ve owned this knife, yet it’s origin and any information about it eludes me. I’ve tried the Internet without any prevail. I figured I would turn my attention to the steemit community in order to see if anyone else collects knives or has any type of information that could help me with this piece.  ## This Sheffield Knife .. Was given to me by one of my grandfathers. At the time I was young, roughly 15 years old, and I really didn’t care about where it came from or any history about the knife. I was more interested in the knife itself. What 15-year-old isn’t interested in wielding a knife?! Only much later, as I dig through things I’ve inherited from family, that I am finding disappointed in myself for not knowing more about these items. It’s a Bowie style knife with an approximate 6 inch blade. Imprinted on the blade it says “Sheffield Steel Blade” and “No6 Sheffield ?IDE” not 100% sure what the last thing is it’s sort of obscured.    On the reverse side of the knife there are two symbols. I know I’ve seen these symbols before, I believe they are some sort of British symbol??  The knife is in decent condition, the steel is sharp but it does have a few oxidation marks which need to be removed. When you hold the knife it sits beautifully balanced in your hand and easily folds in half.   It was give it to me with this leather case. It fits nicely in the case but I’m not sure that it’s an original case that came with a knife. It just sits in there a little bit too loose for me to think that it was an original fit. The case itself is also antique/vintage. The clasp still works and the leather is in great shape.     My favorite part about this knife, is how it folds into itself. It’s sort of unique to me. I start by gently pulling back on the brass base of the knife.  I apply downward blade pressure until it starts to fold in on itself.  Once it passes a pressure point then it folds nicely down into the handle.   I don’t know why but where it folds onto itself it looks and reminds me of a fish. Ha ha Ha.  I don’t have a lot of experience with knives, so I’m not sure if this is the case. But I can’t really find any thing similar on the web as far as Sheffield steel goes. So if you can, and if you’re into knives, maybe you can help me out and shed some light on this particular knife. I would appreciate the help! Measures 12" the short discription.
