I opened up a can of Smoked Fish After 5 years

I stock piled a little stash of canned food and left it at work. I opened up a can of chickpeas. It really tasted stale after about 3-4 years. Not very appetizing. I opened up another can and it was the same thing. Perhaps it was how it was canned. I was under the impression this stuff can last 25 years..

What did surprise me was this can of smoked kippers. They tasted pretty fresh and smelled delicious. I tried it out and it kept really well.

The brand was Nubrunswick smoked kippurs. VERY GOOD. Full of vitamin D, calcium and protein.

We vacuum seal all of our pantry goods and rotate our cans so they are used within 3 years. 25 years is a long time to be in a can LOL
