Hello steemians, it feels good to participate in this week contest. The topics in this particular contest involves critical thinking and have kept me on my toes. Carrying out research on them has exposed me to discoveries. After my research on all topics, I decided to choose the most interesting topics I would like to defend as required by this contest.
## <center>INTRODUCTION</center>
My defense on these topics doesn’t mean that there are no justifiable critics. Ordinarily, judging by people's ideas on these topics, there is nothing defendable about these topics.
For instance, an average Nigerian family will never listen to their children talking about staying unmarried for whatsoever reason glaring at their faces, neither will they believe that punishment never corrects a child.
For the sake of this contest, I will be defending the following the topics below:

Marriage has become a nightmare to some people such that they would say, “I’ll rather stay unmarried than suffer in marriage”.
This statement has been made by a lot of people, of which some I know. They feel threatened in marriage. Before we proceed, let’s see the meaning of marriage.
What is Marriage?
Marriage is a legal union of two imperfect people with different ages, likes and dislikes, family, background, class, status, or career that has agreed to stay together as one.
I had to define marriage in this most simple way because its definition will help us understand what we are about to discuss.
According to my definition, we can see that marriage is not for the perfect (of course nobody is perfect). This means that couples should expect anything in marriage.
It is better to stay unmarried in order to avoid ill-treatment faced by some people in marriage, some of which have led to the death of some innocent people, all in the name of marriage.
#### ADVANTAGES OF STAYING UNMARRIED
**Avoidance of domestic violence:** Domestic violence has been on a high range in marriages lately, especially on the part of a woman.
Women suffer domestic violence in their homes such that it results in their death. Domestic violence is the physical abuse or maltreatment afflicting pain and injury on a person.

It is often believed that a wife who is submissive to her husband wouldn’t face domestic violence but one who isn’t will. But I will like to ask a question on this note, what happens to a husband who isn’t faithful in a marriage?

It isn’t only women that suffer this domestic violence, just that it seems very common amongst the women.
Men too suffer domestic violence, some men live in the shadow of themselves in their own house. They are tortured emotionally, probably because of their inability to own up to the responsibilities of the house which may not be intentional.
**Career Aspiration:** This is one's vision for the future, and what they hope to achieve in their professional life. Sometimes, staying unmarried with no stress of children and husband or wife gets one focused on his/her career.

**Less housework:** Staying alone helps one keep a house clean for a long period but the moment another person moves in, there becomes more dishes to wash, clothes to wash, more food to make, and more friends visiting (from both ends).
**Less debt:** For the men, when they are alone with no responsibility of a wife and children to take care of, they spend less and save more. They live their lives just for themselves, earn for themselves, and spend for themselves.

Sc01 means steemcurator01. The engagement contest for each week is always visited by steemcurator01 or steemcurator02, to encourage steemians that have done very well in writing or participating in the contest.
The votes from the steemcurator01 are not guaranteed, it isn’t the reward for the winner in the contest. I have seen people participate in the whole contest for the week and get votes from steemcurator01 or steemcurator02 for only one post.

Steemit encourages hard work and expects all steemians to work hard to merit a vote from steemcurator01.
It isn’t nice calling out steemcurator01 on your post as it crowds their notification and may offend them. Imagine, if the number of people on the blockchain calls out steemcurator01 or steemcurator02 on every post they make daily, how many notifications should they be expecting daily?
## <center>PUNISHMENT NEVER HAS A GOOD EFFECT</center>
Punishment to the best of my knowledge is a rough treatment or penalty afflicted on one who is guilty of an offense.

Sometimes punishment might be afflicted with physical pain or not. In an organization setting, punishment may have to do with suspension, payment reduction, query, or even sac letter.
If we take time to look at punishment in this context, it doesn’t have to do with physical pain but emotional pain, of course, no worker would want to work without getting his or her complete payment for the month, thereby, causing them to get up and doing with their jobs.
Punishment afflicted with pain is seen in schools or even homes, where a child gets flogged for not coming to school early, not doing his assignment, not wearing clean uniforms, or even not doing well in academics.
We fail to look at the fact that there must have been something that caused the actions of the child which may not entirely be the fault of the child. Instead of making the child change to good, the child becomes even worse than he was.
When we punish children, we may see the behavior stop and then we figure it worked, we achieved our desired outcome which will be temporary.
It only instigated fear in them such that they behave well in the presence of an adult. It is better to use positive discipline instead of punishment.
