Commemorating Two Great People!
Remembering has always been part of each and every one of the existing lives, our brain is practically based on this. As simple as when for the first time our father told us that a knife cut and the next time we had a knife in front we manipulated it carefully because we knew that it could hurt us. At that moment our brain remembered what our father had told us.

Now, there are people who, beyond remembering, are commemorated, because as many people say, they not only passed through life, but certainly "lived".

Such day as today, April 23 two tragic news were known, two illustrious had died ... But in turn, this day was also a day worthy of commemoration by Two Great people who certainly lived the life and who are considered as the The greatest exponents of Spanish and English literature.

Here is a brief biography of these Two Great people:

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra

Soldier, novelist, poet and Spanish playwright. Born on September 29, 1547 in Alcalá de Henares with Rodrigo de Cervantes and Leonor de Cortinas as parents.

In 1569 he left Spain, because of some problem with justice, and settled in Rome, where he entered the militia, in the company of Don Diego de Urbina, with whom he participated in the Battle of Lepanto (1571). After several years of garrison life in Sardinia, Lombardy, Naples and Sicily (where he acquired a great knowledge of Italian literature), he returned to Spain. The ship in which he was traveling was approached by Turkish pirates (1575), who seized him and sold him as a slave, along with his brother Rodrigo, in Algiers. He remained there until, in 1580, an emissary of his family managed to pay the ransom demanded by his captors.

In 1584 he married Catalina Salazar and Palacios in the Toledo village of Esquivias. To the two years of married, Cervantes begins his extensive trips by Andalusia.

It is very probable that between the years 1581 and 1583 Cervantes wrote La Galatea, his first literary work in volume and transcendence. It was published in Alcalá de Henares in 1585. Until then I had only published some compositions in other books, in romanceros and songbooks, which gathered productions of various poets.

In 1587 he got a new job as Commissioner of Provisions in the Invincible Navy and with the relationships that he gets, he finally settled in Seville working as a real supplier. For although it brought him more than one problem with the peasants and an accusation of embezzlement, he allowed him to enter into contact with the variegated and picturesque world of the countryside which he would so well reflect in his masterpiece, Don Quixote, which began to be developed, According to the prologue to this work, when Cervantes ends up in jail. It is not known whether that term meant that he began to write it while he was in prison or, simply, that he came up with the idea there.

In 1616, months before his death, he sent to the printing press the second volume of Don Quixote, a work with which he was considered, the greatest figure in Spanish literature. It is universally known for having written The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha that many critics have described as the first modern novel and one of the best works of universal literature, besides being the most edited and translated book of history, only surpassed By the Bible. It has been given the nickname of "Prince of the Wits".

William Shakespeare

Playwright, poet and English actor. Shakespeare is considered the most important writer in English language and one of the most celebrated of the universal literature.

He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564. He was the third of eight children to have John Shakespeare, a prosperous merchant who came to a prominent position in the municipality, and Mary Arden, who descended from a family of ancestry . He was born when his family lived on Henley Street in Stratford; It is not known the exact day, since then only the baptismal record was made, on April 26 in this case.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/William_Shakespeares_birthplace%2C_Stratford-upon-Avon_26l2007.jpg

William Shakespeare probably took his first studies at the local primary school, the Stratford Grammar School, in the center of his hometown, which should have brought him an intensive education in Latin grammar and literature.

On November 28, 1582, when he was 18 years old, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, 26, from Temple Grafton, a town near Stratford. After their marriage, there are scarcely marks of William Shakespeare in the historical registers, until it makes its appearance in the theater scene London. The last years of the 1580s are known as the 'lost years' of the playwright, since there is no evidence to know where he was.

By 1592 Shakespeare was already in London working as a playwright, and was well known. Soon he would become an actor, writer, and eventually co-owner of the theater company known as Lord Chamberlain's Men, which was named after his aristocratic patron, Lord Chamberlain, as well as others at the time. The company would reach such popularity that, after the death of Isabel I and the ascent to the throne of James I Stuart, the new monarch would take it under his protection, happening to be denominated the King's Men.

Parallel to his theatrical success, his economy improved. He became one of the shareholders of his theater, was able to help his father financially, and even in 1596 bought him a nobility title, whose coat appears on the monument to the poet built shortly after his death in the church of Stratford.

Shakespeare retired to his native village in 1611, by the end of the century he was already quite wealthy and bought or had a house built in Stratford, which he called New-Place.

William Shakespeare passed away the 23 of April of 1616 at the age of fifty-two years. Shakespeare's remains were buried in the presbytery of Stratford's Holy Trinity Church.

Among his most famous works are:

Hamlet
Othello
Macbeth
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Romeo and Juliet

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization celebrates International Book and Copyright Day on 23 April. One of the most relevant facts for establishing this date was that the death of the two great exponents of Spanish and English literature just happened on the same day.

Versión en Español

¡Conmemorando a Dos Grandes!

http://zonaliteratura.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/william_shakespeare_e_miguel_de_cervantes_boa.jpg

https://lclcarmen3.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/imagen3.png

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9b/La_Galatea_First_Edition_Title_Page.jpg

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/41/Casa_de_Medrano_%28Argamasilla_de_Alba%29.JPG/800px-Casa_de_Medrano_%28Argamasilla_de_Alba%29.JPG

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/William_Shakespeares_birthplace%2C_Stratford-upon-Avon_26l2007.jpg

http://www.nosweatshakespeare.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/lord-chamberlains-men-plaque.jpg

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/da/Nash_House_Stratford.jpg/800px-Nash_House_Stratford.jpg

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/24/Shakespeare_grave_-Stratford-upon-Avon_-3June2007.jpg/800px-Shakespeare_grave_-Stratford-upon-Avon_-3June2007.jpg

Entre sus obras más famosas están:

Hamlet
Otelo
Macbeth
El sueño de una noche de verano
Romeo y Julieta

@gduran ·
Cervantes is known as "el Manco de Lepanto", manco means he is missing one hand, in reality he was shot in that hand and the hand whithtered becoming useless. I have never actually managed to read Don Quijote completely, for one reason or another I never finish it.
