The NFL, NBA and even NHL are all now rolling strong in the DFS world and although my primary focus is NFL, during the week I'll be playing a bit of NBA. For me, it's a great way to try to build some bankroll for the upcoming NFL weekend. I am pretty conservative during the week with NBA, playing small amounts in cash games. That said, I might as well put out a couple articles on my DFS picks when I do play. Just note, I play periodically and don't expect to put these articles out on a regular set schedule. These will be less detailed than my NFL articles but as always will include guys I will be playing in my own lineups.
Tonight we focus on a small 4 game slate. Picks include a combination of value and top dollar plays. I utilize defense vs position in a lot of my NBA analysis and must point out www.hashtagbasketball.com and www.rotogrinders.com for their great collection of matchup and NBA data data. Prices are based on Draft Kings unless noted otherwise. Let me know your thoughts on tonight slate in the comments below. Make sure you check lineups prior to lock as a lot can change between now and tip off. Without further ado are my top picks on the slate.
# TOP PLAYS
### John Wall - $9,000
John Wall is likely the guy I will be spending up for on tonight's short slate. He offers both a solid floor and ceiling on most nights and has traditionally played better in home games. His price is $9,000 on DK so we need somewhere around 45 DK points to hit value. He has done this in 8/16 games this season and has averaged 43 on the season. It's not my most favorite play but he is one of the few upside elite players that is in a high scoring, close spread game. With a total of 230.5, the Wizards/Clippers game stands far above every other game in terms of scoring potential. The Clippers are middle of the pack in terms of defending PGs but did just give up 25 points, 17 assists, and 3 rebounds to the Hawks rookie Trae Young, so they can be beat. I believe Wall offers the safest floor of any player on tonight's slate and for that reason alone, I'll be forcing him into my lineups.
### Al-Farouq Aminu - $4,700
His name might be a mouthful, but I think Aminu offers great value tonight at just $4,700. We are dealing with a short slate, limited players, and some low game totals, so our selection is limited. It seems with rest, Aminu has been getting big minutes, playing over 32 minutes on average in his last 4 games. His usage isn't ideal but at his price tag we really only need around 25 DK points which I think is easily attainable on a 32-35 minute workload. More to the point, the Knicks are one of the worst teams in terms of defending the PF position and don't get much better than average vs SFs. It's a solid matchup for a cheap guy that has been getting good minutes. Aminu is my favorite value play.
### Montrezl Harrell - $6,600
Digging into Montrezl Harrell's season, he has pleasantly surprised me in terms of both production and consistency. He has averaged over 31 DK points this season and hasn't scored fewer than 32 DK points since 11/8/18. His minutes float between 27-32 each night and he is coming off arguably his best performance of the season last night where he put up 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 5 steals for 55 DK points. He has shown flashes of upside considering his price point and shouldnt have too hard of a task tonight in Washington. I mentioned this game has the best potential for scoring so I want as many players as I can from it. Harrell is one of those guys and is priced about right at $6,600. We can get 35 DK out of him tonight with upside of 40-45 in my opinion.
That wraps up tonight's slate. Good luck out there and let's win some money!
