অনেক অযাচিত রাত অনেক আচমকা অভিমান
দারুচিনি দ্বীপে হঠাৎ দেখা পাওয়া কোনো রোদ্দুর
আমি জল ঢেলে দিই রাতের সাদা ভাতে,
আমার খিদেয় আজ জোনাকির বেমানান সুর।

অনেক কষ্টে জোগাড় করা পুরোনো খড়কুটো
এই ভয়ানক শীতে একটু আশার সঞ্চার,
তোমার গুপ্ত রাজ্যের সুপ্ত বাসনার অমৃতে
আমার প্রবেশাধিকার নিষিদ্ধ চাপা হাহাকার।

Many unexpected nights are very bitter
A sudden sighted rhythm on the island of Cinnamon.
I pour water out of the white of the night,
My hunger today is the incomprehensible tune of cricket.

Old straws are very difficult to gather
A little hope for this terrible winter,
Through the latent desire of your hidden kingdom
