Our journey to Caesarea 1

At the end of the week we decided to take a little trip on an archaeological dig in Caesarea , an ancient city the ruins of which are on the Mediterranean coast in Israel ,it is named after the Roman Emperor Augustus. On Saturday morning we left home, but arriving at the place we realized that our Navigator made a mistake and brought us to where we wanted and then we saw the Museum "Rally" ,it was a pleasant surprise we didn't even know what it's for museums , and that they are here.

Is a private Museum belong to the family of Recanati ,there are already four museums that formed the network of museums of the Rally. In Caesarea Museum "Rally" is very large , 9000 square meters, located on a vast Park with an area of more than 40000 meters, to our pleasant surprise, the entrance to museums is free, no guides, no souvenir sellers, so wanted the owners of the Museum, so anyone could see the picture , even without money . Allowed to freely take pictures, which is rare for such places.

The Museum contains paintings and sculptures by Latin American artists , the age of the paintings 300-400 years, but they all look great, mostly biblical scenes and themes. There are more copies of the works of Salvador Dali, very beautiful paintings and sculptures, the famous "space elephant", the sculpture "Venus with drawers". Our daughter loved the collection of coins , which were struck by its diversity and size.

The whole surrounding area is also striking in its beauty, in the inner
the yard of the first building sculptures of famous authors, and the second courtyard of the Palace is decorated with a beautiful fountain of marble, and there are plaques with the names of famous Spanish Jews.

After leaving the museums, we had shared with each other impressions. But our idea of going on an archaeological dig, we left, and we decided to go further. On the beach, the first thing we saw remnants of the famous 40 km aqueduct, which in ancient times the city was supplied water from mountain springs, it was built by the slaves of Rome. This place attracts a lot of tourists in the arches of the aqueduct of people have picnics there, we met a wedding procession who came to do a photo shoot.

Driving further, we saw on the shore with a whole range of cafes and restaurants, an ancient port with an artificial harbour built in the 10th century , excavations of the Hippodrome, where in ancient times there were races on chariots, a huge amphitheater with 4,000 seats ,which is now successfully concerts. Remains of Roman roads and mosaics with Greek inscriptions, marble columns, excavations continue to this day. Our journey was very interesting and informative, we advise all who will come to rest in Israel , be sure to go to Caesarea , there is something to see.
