# Esteem ; App deep linking, an effective way to better utopian



Hello fellow utopians!


I've discovered something that would boost the effective use of Esteem while it last longer than expected. 
I came to realise that the app is not links friendly which means some user find it very difficult to use rather they will use other mobile websites in the likes of Mozilla, Firefox, Chrome and others which has reduced the rate of which Esteem is being used.


I will like to urge esteem to introduce the use of "deep linking" for effective use of the app which will result in a more interactive ways. 
Imagine a version of esteem where any search you do on your mobile will serves results from not just the mobile web but the App on your phone too.
Then wouldn't it be great if Esteem could choose how to viewed the page when clicking through the link? Either on the mobile web or other social interaction page such as discord among others, which automatically opens up and serves the contents from the app.


Why use deep linking for Esteem?


Deep linking is important because it drives user engagement and can direct users to specific view within steemit.

Take for instance, someone sent me his work link through discord chat app to check the contents. 
If I have the esteem app installed and I tap on these links, Esteem app will launch and take me directly to the content.

Without deep linking the Esteem app have two options. The first is to display a button for me to tap on that link within discord app. Once I arrive at the Esteem page, I may need to authenticate with esteem if I am not already signed in. The second option is to direct me to exit discord app, open esteem app and then search for my friend username to load his page.


Alternatively, esteem app can make it easier for users and allow a deep link do all the heavy lifting. With a single action, users can tap on the link and directly launch esteem to the page.

This method can also attract new users to steemit through Esteem app. Instead of expecting a new or potential user to move from a browser to the App and conduct their own search for my page, I can easily use a deep link to direct them straight to a specific screen in Esteem app. 
This will enhance the onboarding experience of Esteem users by sending invitations via deep links. When a user opens the link and Esteem launches, it will helped the users find the page.

How does esteem app deep linking work? 


If someone searches for content that is contained within steemit app and the user has the app installed ,they will then have the option to view that content within the app rather than just on a usual mobile webpage.


Assuming, steemit have the same content on the main website as well as Esteem app, the app results will appear as deep links within the search listing. 
So in the context of esteem Mobile App, a deep link would serve a specific pieces of content, rather than just launching the first screen of the esteem App. 
So, it's definitely worth doing to increase Steemit presence in search results. 



With this, esteem will be a fantastic user retention tool, fostering a greater user loyalty, have a longer usage time and can be an effective communication tool for users.
