Last day of the sea side adventures. Long trek back home. I have to say my emotions are a bit out of whack and I’m pretty tired. Sun, heat and few hours of sleep do you in. As I was leaving I found this installation in Novigrad, a small city in Istria. Looks interesting but I’ve no idea what it is.

No sooner had I arrived home than I cheered myself with Vukovarsko beer. Named after the easternmost city in Croatia. Quite a ride from the capitol.

 I quite like it for the Vučedol culture which flourished between between 3000 and 2200 BC. Worth a look. The most prized item is this dove. Actually a ritual vessel. Image from [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vu%C4%8Dedol_culture)

I like the variant of the story where the most manly men in the village gathered around a fire and shared their latest home-brewed edition in it. Oh joy! No really, older than some pyramids, go figure!

I’m a sucker for these old artifacts. Especially for this stone figure. My favourite work of art of all times. Venus of Willendorf! What a delicate taste for art, don’t you agree? :)

| Appearance| Pale straw color. White healthy looking head. The Vučedol dove on the label. A tiny stone vessel. I like it  a lot! I bet the prehistoric people used it to drink beer!
| Aroma| Weak and pale. Some grains there. A bit of malt here. I hear citrus from other people but I can’t sense it.
| Taste| A sharp medium bitter-sour kick. As lagers go, not bad. Simple and likable. Low sweet.
| Palate| Medium carbonation. Slick texture, a good sign. I expected more watery feel. Slight bitter finish

| Overall| I seem to remember more yeasty experience last time I had it, but that was quite a while ago. I was pleasantly surprised and this is very drinkable. If you happen to find it, which can be challenging for some reason, do try it! Still, it is a staple lager.

**Price: 11 kuna (1.75$) for 0.5 l. Bottle at a tobacco shop. Budget to mid-range.**
