**With the influx of new members into steemit now; plagiarism and spamming has increased a lot because proper orientation is not being given to the new members that are coming in. the old members in their attempt to spread the good news of steemit has neglected the basics and the rudiments which are needed to be passed to new users as orientations**.
I might still be a minnow and with a reputation of 47 indicating that i am still a small boy on the blockchain. But i believe i have something good to share with my fellow minnows, the dolphins are also not excempted from this and the topic i want to discuss today is the **USE OF TAGS** which is otherwise known as **HASHTAG.**
There are different tags for each post depending on the theme of the post to be made by an author,
It should be noted that using a wrong tag for a particular post is called **SPAMMING** and it is a serious offence on steemit.
Let's take a look at some tags which can be seen on the steemit homepage and what kind of post they are used for
**Photography** : this tag is used for articles with little words but plenty pictures, and not just anyhow picture, the picture must be clear and of good quality. The picture must be able to convey the message you want to pass with that post.
**Bitcoin**: the answer to this can be gotten from the name. This tag is used for any article relating to bitcoin.
**Art**: it is not limited to drawing alone, the tag can also be used for anything that relates to art; talk of music, drawing, fighting skills etc.
**Introduceyourself**: this tag is majorly for new members who just registered on steemit and wants to make their first post which is a post about themselves. It helps the community to know who they are and their purpose of joining the steemit community
**Travel**: anytime you travel, snap pictures and write something about your experience, the place you traveled to, what happened there that you will want us to know. Them use the tag
**Cryptocurrency**: this tag is used for any article relating to cryptocurrencies
**Food**: for the food lovers to easily locate your post, if you write any article on food, be it your best food, a video or a written tutorial of how to make a particular delicacy, this is the right tag to use.
**News**: this tag is used for any latest information about anything that exists or is happening.
**Nature**: if you so much like to write about the beauty of what God has done, how he has formed the universe, how things are in place and are arranged be the creator Himself, tall of animals, trees, Oceans, hills, mountains etc. This is the right tag to use.
**Music**: anything that is related to music, be it a musician, musical notes, tutorials on voice training etc. Use this tag.
**Love**: any post that has to do with relationship, the love life of two things or two people. Feel free to stick to this tag.
**Contest** : this tag is used majorly for competitions on steemit. With this let me just mention few contests I know of

**Poetry**: please know that there is a poetry contest on steemit. So any article that has to do with poem, this is the right tag to use.
**Health**: if you have any information about how people can improve their health status, what to do when they are faced with different health challenges, drug prescriptions, herbs to take, exercise to engage in, hospitals to go etc. Use this tag.
**Science**: this tag is used for any article relating to scientific researches, discoveries, innovations, advancement etc
**Technology**: we know that wherever we talk about science, we definitely must talk about what puts science into use which is Technology. This tag is generally used for posts that deals on other technological advancements, innovations, computers, jets, cars, planes, ships and the rest.
**Politics**: if you want us to know about the political schism of your country or any other country you might want to use as a case study, what is happening there, the political standard, political parties that exists, what the rulers are doing be it good or bad. Then use this tag.
**Drawing**: if you have any art work, majorly portraits drawn by you or by someone and you want to share, this is the right tag to use.
**Steemstem**: this tag is the major reason why I am writing this post. Most people have gotten it wrong, this tag is used majorly and strictly for articles relating to science. So of you write any article about science, feel free to use the tag science and steemstem.
**Air-clinic**: this tag is majorly for health related posts.
There are still other tags that I haven't mentioned of in this article because not all this tags can be found on the steemit blockchain as a major tag, but one thing is you as a person can decide to create your own tag depending on your choice.
I will soon release another tutorial on things that need to be known on steemit. i hope this little one i have released will add to your knowledge as a steemian. i know we have people on steemit that do not really understand the concept of hashtag, some people use a particular tag because they believe it will fetch them money without writing a post that is related to the use tag
Please do not be taken as a spammer on steemit, use the right tag for your posts. Earning money on steemit is not just the only thing that should be on your mind, thinks of impacting in the lives of others with good posts even if it won't bring you money.
