We have just moved from Mile End in Montreal known for it's hip culture. Although we were never that impressed, we now realized we were pretty lucky to have lived there. The area and it's surroundings are known for it's parks . These are where many gather on a sunny day or sometimes not so sunny, and enjoy relaxing on the grass or playing ball and having full on picnics. Myself and Marc and our friend had one last picnic in our neighborhood park two days before we moved. We pulled out all the stops. When we grill tofu, we prefer to use extra firm which doesn't marinate as well so we chose a pepper flavored one.  One of the best features was the grilled tempeh marinated and cooked in garlicky vinaigrette and hot chillies. It was our first time grilling tempeh and I must say it was definitely the best I have had. Usually the one we have is boiled.  I find that many people including some vegans don't know what tempeh is. So to sum it up, it is a fermented soy bean product who's origin is Indonesia.  The vegan burgers are from a Montreal company called Aux Vivres and in our opinion the best vegan burgers we have ever had. There was a lot of food so we skipped the buns.  In four weeks we will head to Mexico. There we will search for another picnic spot. Perhaps a beach. Yeah that sounds about right.
