I have a new Camelbak hydration pack. That gives me enough water for an 8 hour ride - my go to system. Was a clear blue sky day.

King parrot came to visit - he was quite chatty. Happy birthday mate.

We have guests for lunch tomorrow - I am cooking. I figured I could do the protein shopping in a big loop and fit in a walk. 

South African beef sausage (boerewors) in one place, fish in another and eye fillet in yet another. Last spot is a Chinese supermarket in Dee Why where I lived 10 years ago. Wow, has that place changed. No photos. 

Went for a walk on Deep Creek which flows into Narrabeen Lake. Not walked it before but was hoping to find greenhoods. Track passes through an old cement works. No orchids where humans have been but did find mushrooms

Nice to get gold one without too much brightness from the dome. I will work out how to fix that in the photo capture stage. It will be a setting.

Track was heading along the creek. I wanted to walk a little higher on the edge of the tree line. Did find a few clusters of mosquito orchids but no flowers. Then stumbled across rhe rounder leaves of helmet orchids and a flower

Spurred helmet orchid - corybas aconitiflorus. Side on photo shows the spurs either side of the stem. 

Made it back to the track and wandered back.  Different purple mushrooms - top down

Did finally find some acianthus orchids in flower. Not sure about ID - these have me stumped. Thinking acianthus fornicatus because of wide galea and calli on the labellum.

That said the flower is a bit big which could make it an exsertus

In all a good visit with  two finds but in an unknown location. That tells me I am learning what might work - terrain, climate, bush. 

Was a great way to celebrate turning 64. 

Dinner: Mini tapas plate to start and cottage pie with yesterday's bolognese. Also cooked potatoes for tomorrow's potato salad
