Few days ago, I joined in a group of artists who are [making this year's calendar.](https://steemit.com/kr-art/@zzoya/2pnokt-kr-art), led by amazing Korean illustrator @zzoya. 

The calendar will have illustrations for each month, painted by 12 different Korean illustrators. The finished calendar will be distributed from @zzoya's blog beginning in January 15th. Please check her blog out to see her amazing artworks, too :)

Anyways, I selected July for my part of the project. 
Why did I select July? first of all, everyone else took other months 
and October and July were only choices I had left with... ^_^;
And then I thought maybe drawing a cat floating on water might be fun for summer. 
After few quick sketches I decided to take different route. Wouldn't it be more meaningful if I make this painting more personal by including my own experiences in it? AND draw a cat?

`제가 선택한 달은 7월입니다.`
`7월과 10월이 마지막으로 남아있던 상태였는데, 그냥 아무거나 상관없기도 했지만 고양이가 튜브타고 떠다니는 그림을 그리면 재밌지 않을까 하는 생각에 ㅋㅋㅋ 7월을 선택했습니다.`
`하지만 몇번의 스케치 후, 컨셉을 바꾸게 됐는데요! 그림에 좀 더 제 자신의 경험을 투영할수 있지 않을까? 하는 생각이 들었거든요.`

While I usually gather references before I draw and paint anything, 
this quick painting was entirely created from my memory back in South Korea. 

`보통 그림을 그릴댄 참고자료를 모은뒤 그리지만 이번 그림은 제 머릿속의 기억을 바탕으로 그려졌습니다. `

I used to grew up in a village besides the mountains. 

`어릴적 산과 들판에 둘러쌓인 한국 시골에서 살았던 기억을 말이죠 :)`

And roam the mountains and streams with my bug net and plastic containers.

`여름이 되면 잠자리채와 채집통을 들고 혼자 모험을 다니곤 했습니다. 여름 시골 할머니댁에 갈때면, 아침에 나갔다가 해질때쯤 들어오는게 제 하루 일과였어요ㅎㅎㅎ`

Definitely didn't need Nintendo because I had real gears :)

`사족: 몸살 감기가 걸려서 어제는 포스팅을 쉬었습니다.
예전엔 감기에 걸려도 하룻밤 자고 나면 다 나았는데 요즘은 일주일이 넘어도 낫질 않는군요.ㅠㅠ 
그릴 그림이 너무 많은데... ㅇ<-< 원하는 만큼 속도가 나오질 않고 있어요! 
여러분은 모두 건강하시기 바랍니다. 비오는 날에 저처럼 우산 안쓰고 다니지 마세요 ㅋㅋㅋ
