The qualified round matches of Sri Lanka ended today. Today's match was against the **Netherlands**. Today's match went down in history as Sri Lanka beat the Netherlands by less than 50 runs in two T20 World Cups. When our legends showed that talent in **2014**, our young team showed that talent in **2021**. In 2014, the Netherlands were all out for **39**, while in 2021, the Netherlands were out for **44**.

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Netherlands were all out to 44 runs thanks to a superb bowling performance by Sri Lanka.  Lahiru Kumara and Wanidu Hasaranga took 03 wickets while Mahesh Theekshan took 02 wickets for just 1 over. Mahesh Theekshan had to stay at the dressing room today's match due to an injury to his spine. *We wish him a speedy recovery*. Because he is an essential player for the Sri Lankan team for all the next matches.

Sri Lanka easily chased down that target and won the match today.  With this match, the Sri Lankan team was able to win all the matches in the qualifying round.  Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team is scheduled to play against Bangladesh on October 24 as the first match in the Super 12 round..

However, the sad news today is that Mahela Jayawardene will no longer be an advisor to the Sri Lankan team after today's match. I think it is a big loss for the Sri Lankan team.  We saw that after Mahela Jayawardene joined the team, there was a big improvement in the team. If a talented coach like Mickey Arthur and Mahela Jayawardene are in the Sri Lanka squad for this tournament, we can certainly have high hopes for the World Cup. However, *we wish the Sri Lankan team the best of luck in all future matches.*
