What's the difference between me and the next guy? While I am on Steemit, the next guy is mindlessly scrolling their Facebook feed without getting anything in return. :D

If only our kids could understand this

As a father of two teenagers and 2 pre-teens (ALL GIRLS!) you guys have no idea how hard it is to just convince them that they do not have to follow anybody's model; more importantly, that most (if not all) models available (desirable, popular) are wrong!
It is so frustrating that one of them, the one who openly expressesher desires to fly as high as can be done, is constantly the object of all kinds of bullying, sometimes coming from even people close to us who are supposed to support her.

I know from personal experience that if we don't break that cycle at an early age, we grow up to become confromist adults.

I have been dealing with this in Steemit, actually. Communities that can be growing so much faster and doing more and are stagnated.

A word to the wise

Society will always sabotage dreamers because they envision a world without the rules of society affecting them. The ego of society can’t take that and therefore does everything to pull that person back.

The fact that we are here engaging on an ecosystem built around taking different steps is a great indication that we already different and can opt to live our own life without taking the herd mentality that pushes so many towards a neverending search of something that cannot exist for them...

Ahh, the dreamer. Often ridiculed, seldom understood.  I have learned to overcome negative comments chalking them up to good intentions. I do my best to encourage my children to do the same. I tell them we may not always achieve all of our dreams, but we will definitely enjoy the ride more than the next guy.

Yes, some people are not self-driven achievers, they need some pressure to keep them going. There are people who are just "thinkers", and others are just " executives". We have to understand this in managing people and delegating work to them. Otherwise, their dreams will become their nightmares.

There is one word that catch in my eyes in your today post . In second paragraph , you said :
