You may associate Scotland with funny, cool, laid back people, but Scotland has a serious problem with political correctness.

It may be due in part to the history of sectarian violence and tribalism, but Britain is cracking down on free speech, and Scotland is the worst affected area.  The most recent high profile censorship case is the story of Markus Meechan, AKA [YouTuber "Count Dankula".](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7SeFWZYFmsm1tqWxfuOTPQ/videos)

Just over a year ago, provocateur Markus gained notoriety for posting a video of his girlfriends pug dog reacting to various verbal  Nazi sentiments, such as "gas the jews",  and so forth. Some found the video offensive. Some found it hilarious. Most took no notice because they had more important things to do. Not so the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities or the censorious Scotish police, who have him in some very deep water right now.

Markus was due in court this week but the case has been delayed amid mounting public support for the YouTuber.
