Decentraland is launching today

### Create your avatar, get some cool clothes, maybe a pet, and then move into this new virtual reality world, where you can buy land, invest in property, run a business and do pretty much all the things you can do in the real world.

I almost had my avatar finished the other day, but then stopped because it cost 100 MANA tokens to create it. It's only about $0.50, but that's just about all the MANA tokens I own ;) 

I wasn't sure whether this is really the beginning of a new world (like when the first settlers came to America :)) or just a waste of money?

The good thing about joining early is that there's a lot to win! Maybe I will join on the weekend...

I think it's free to make an avatar, but 100 MANA if you want to give it a Custom Name.  I was just in there, checking things out.  It made me a little dizzy after a while and then it crashed my browser.  Maybe I'll try again another day.  Seems pretty cool though.  Kind of like Second Life.  But the view is first person and that tends to make me dizzy for some reason.

Thanks for letting us know that Dectraland is open! :)

Oh, that’s good to know, thanks for letting me know! I’d also like to have a look first before I decide to pay...

I can relate to the dizzy-ness 😄 I never saw Second Life from the inside and I’ve only ever worn VR glasses once. This is all new and will take some adjustment, plus I’m not sure if I really want to invest too much time there ;) 

On the other hand, seeing how we go more and more digital, it could be one of those things that will be normal and an integral part of society in a few years. Who knows...
