I took my E-scooter for a nice spin as I do and today was really happy to find this talented chap who calls himself Ndube!! We have a high unemployment rate in South Africa which gives rise to many resourceful skilled artisans practicing their trade and selling their products on the side of the road.

I was rather happy to see this chap and his crafts. 'Homemade' broomsticks are a top seller in South Africa, why support a mass chain retailer when you can buy from folks like this at half the price, which are also literal works of art, and I do love my art!


The old adage that 'simplicity is key' rings true here and how well it works and looks too. Here has has simply got old tree branches and sprayed them. Imagine how lovely these will look in a lush green garden, possibly with a bird bath or feeder hanging from it?

Here we have the man at work applying his craft! He uses sustainable branches, sticks, reeds and grasses to make these lovely products and ornaments!

He setup 'shop' on the corner of a busy intersection at a circle, this way all passing traffic would get a  clear view of all his offerings, it is working nicely for him.

After my visit here, off I went, en-route home I saw this and just had to take a sneaky snap.

The South African Steemians here would really appreciate this. @quailbreeder @therneau @braaiboy @hansdewet @towjam @buckaroo @louis-cpt I had a nice chuckle when I saw it ;) Dagga is cannabis, now who needs help getting off that? LOL ;) It is one of the worlds most treasured herbal remedies Right? ;)

Very industrious! I do love those handmade brooms! We have some here, but, not anywhere close to where I live. If I go out into the countryside, I *might* be able to find one, but, not nearly as nice as those. 

He is missing out on a really good market here! Those things would fly out the door!

I like where/how he sets up shop. Empty corner, give it a go! Do they need to get a permit when they work on the side of the road like that or do they just take their chances at being caught? Uncle Sam here in the States would be afraid he would be cheated out of some income tax due him.  :))

Thank you dearly for the wonderfully colorful posts you always bring to the table. I always enjoy a good read from South Africa and I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put one together.
