Good Day to you steemians,

Looking to live in another country? Maybe you already do..... but there may come a point where you might start to miss home.

# So you made it. 

You got everything you wanted and more, the perfect house, weather, car, family whatever. You finally look around and think to yourself, I made it. You mingle with new friends, go out to eat at the local restaurants,  nice walks along the beaches, you have it all... but then you start to miss your family and friends back home. 

**Lets start by saying you aren't the first and you won't be the last.** So how do you overcome this homesickness??
Well with anything it takes time to adapt to your new surroundings, after all you have lived in your home country a long time. Your old routines are no longer happening, and suddenly you feel that you are a long long way from home. 

Ok first things first this post applies to those that have emigrated and not travelled, because those that have emigrated have chosen to live in another country and settle permanently. 

So the first thing you should do is you need to accept where you are is home. Fill your home with your things and put your stamp on it, it does not really matter what the other houses are like around you the important thing is make it so it suits you.

## Who are you blah blahing too??

Is it hello...or Ola??  Being english and many english do this they try to attach themselves with other english people who might live close to them, because its easier right to speak to another fellow country men in your own language. But deep down this can really help you to be accepted in your community by speaking to the locals. By only learning a few simple words, can make a huge amount of difference, and whats more to learn another language is an excellent skill to attain. 
I speak to my neighbours regularly, they know I speak little Bulgarian, but the main thing is that I try and they can see that so they help you learn as you go along. Google translate is not perfect but it helps a lot and you can meet lots of new friends this way. 
I find it helps me too because if I am out my neighbours keep an eye on the house, incase there is any snooping about and they would call me to let me know. 

### Facetime or Skype

We speak to our family at least once a week, nowerdays with the help of the internet the world is a smaller place, so we have every means possible to stay in touch with family. Facebook, skype, facetime many different platforms give us a sense of closeness, being able to communicate in an instant and sharing things like photos. My goddaughters brothers birthday was last month, before I left I left a card with money in. On the morning of his birthday, I got to see him open the card and see his gift and see his smile. Ok so its not quite a hug, but its better than not seeing him at all. 

### How busy are you keeping?

If you are reflecting back alot on your old life then you have way too much time on your hands, you need a hobby or an activity to keep you busy so its time to find one. This is why I am glad I found steemit, because if I have nothing to do then at least I can blog about whatever I want to blog about. There are many different things you can get into to keep you occupied for example you could vlog about your life, you would not believe how many people out there want to do what you have done. But you talked the talk and walked the walk and they haven't done that yet. So share how you are feeling, you never know it might be easier talking to strangers than what it would your own family. 

## Why did you move in the first place?

For some expats they move because of the job they applied for, so they may be able to fit in better than others because they have a constant workforce around them, but for others who may have retired they may find it harder. 
You need to go back and ask yourself **why did I move in the first place?** Did you make a list?? Time to get it out and look at it, I do this a lot and here are my main reasons for moving. 

* Mortgage Free
* Very low cost of living. 
* Proper seasons (england does not have these.)
* Low Crime rate. 
* Growing Vegetables. 
* Better living. 

I can honestly say that I am getting benefit from all of these, I could not do this if I were still in england, I don't need to make any where near as much money as I did before. 

# Visits back. 
Why not go back and visit those that you miss most, but if you're anything like me the top thing you will notice is the price of everything compared to where you live now, that will probably be enough for you to turn around and come back. 


In the end though the decision of whether to stay or move is entirely yours, but you need to think carefully as a move back can be even greater cost than what it was when you upped and left. You need to give yourself a minimum of two years stay and if you are then still very unhappy you can't say you have not tried, but my opinion if you take that time you will learn to love your new home.
