I have been catching up on things coming out of Steemfest 3 and one of the videos I watched was @exyle vlogging on Dapps and SMT's. He raised a number of things that is a wake up call for many Dapp's.

It is fine creating a Dapp and receiving delegation for a period of time but then what happens. You have slowly built up a community but where is your revenue coming from. The delegation is not forever and they need to find another stream of income.

Steem Monsters is fine as they are doing just that selling starter packs and account creation as a bundle. What are the other ones doing though. If they have no delegation do they have a business model that will generate income?

I look at a few of the Dapps we currently have and I am wandering how are they going to make money if there is no delegation. Do I want to gather tokens or points on a project that is not clear on its pathway.I think I am not going to jump into projects just yet as obviously it will be survival of the fittest with the best business plans. I have had my eyes opened and it will be very interesting to see how these Dapps generate income. Subscriptions maybe or something else. Lets wait and see.

A business plan is essential to convince lenders or investors that your idea makes sense. What about getting a regular loan and then converting it in bitcoin and then in STEEM?

Sometimes in the blinding light of the new, the old lessons are forgotten.

I accept that Crypto and the way value is created and transferred is a very different system, compared to traditional finance. But the need for a clear roadmap and how the system will generate new value needs to be considered and communicated.

I am holding back on my Dapp delegations until I see more mature projects rather than just minimum viable products.
