Dear Diary: I Still Am Eyeing About Getting A Peritoneal Dialysis

I have a weird feeling that my nurses are trying to get rid of me because I feel threatened by their inability to see that I am having a hard, hard time to breathe and would adjust my dry weight without my consent pointing out about my blood pressure which by the way is dropping when we try to lower my dry weight.

So in turn I get breathless before I get to be dialyzed and I could not eat normally. It makes me get a hard time as well to maintain my weight. I am losing weight and water replaces it as they would not allow me to find my ideal true weight. So it adds to my misery of not being able to breathe normally.

So I may get the option to be on a peritoneal dialysis which gives me the total control to watch my weight and take the ideal perfect amount of excess water from my body and at the same time I could eat normally again as there will be no hindrance anymore of being breathless when I eat. It will also constantly clean my blood and not only twice a week.

The only thing that blocks me from getting that option was the expenses and the risk of infection in my belly since a tube will be attached into my belly. My mother also does not want it citing many factors including getting the supplies from the city which is relatively far from our home.

I don't know what to do now but if when I could afford it i will take the risk because I am quite certain that t will give me more benefits than the risks involved as well as some inconveniences that goes along with it.

I would support you to get that type of dialysis if it works better than the conventional one. But I guess with this type of dialysis you will need a dedicated caregiver who knows how it all works. I saw an interesting  article that they are developing a bionic kidney that could end the need for dialysis;here is the link https://www.troab.com/worlds-first-bionic-kidney-set-replace-dialysis-just-two-years/

Wow,  that part about it being connected to your body through your stomach got me scared. I know you would love the convenience a peritoneal dialysis would bring,  but would you be able to guard against the risk of infection like you pointed out?

Not trying to be negative, but I think you should weigh the options carefully and if you still feel it's a better option,  then please go for it.
