Afternoon nap dream: Exchanging money for written paragraphs, a boy's story on the street and programming for laypeople

The dream was longer than I remember it, but the latter part is long enough for me to write about. What I remember starts on a website much like Steemit or Reddit where people were just talking in threads. The background was white and I did not know the thread's title. I think someone might have been reading the texts out loud.

Skimming, I noticed that there was someone answering questions and creating stories (like on [AskReddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/) we often find people curious for more and more). But this person said something about it costing the asker 1 point. He said something like

> Well, you already spent 3000 points on the previous question, so I can see how spending 7 points just on this story might not seem otherworldly to you.

Then, someone else interjected in another comment.

> Wait, 7 points? For 5 dollars each, that's like... like... 55 dollars!

I laughed in my dream because 7*5 is 35, but I continued reading and I was more and more interested about they were saying because I was starting to understand that there was a system in place where everyone bought these 1★ star thingies for money and then exchanged them for things they wanted to know.

I kept browsing and reading the crazy stories they had written until I got to one that had been written by a teenage boy. Once I started reading it, it was more like hearing the narrator's voice in [The Boss Baby](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3874544/) while watching the events unfold. He said something like:

> I was like you before. I couldn't hit a single lay and for all I knew, I was going to stay this way forever. But one day, I saw a guy who would pick up more chicks than any bird I know.

At this point, I was seeing samples of these "birds". I saw a turkey walking in the middle of the street, turning into other birds, then turning into a duck. I was in the point of view of this narrator, who was a skater (I can't even stand on a skateboard). He went from the right pavement to the street, turned right, grabbed the bird, which was in the middle of the street (and was probably going to be hit by a car if it stayed), turned right again toward the pavement, jumped and placed the bird gently on the ground right beside a boy who seemed to be sleeping.

The skater boy talked to him and then I went back to being a flying mind, watching it as if from a screen from 3 stories up. The narrator started asking the boy if he wanted to learn how to program. The boy said yes. I think that the duck had symbolically become the boy and given him its characteristics (it was about to be hit by traffic, so now the boy was the one who had been saved by the narrator), and thus the narrator felt warm fuzzies for the boy and wanted to help him more.

The narrator started asking questions to the boy, and I was very curious about what framework they would be using. A phone appeared floating in the air as if there were a screen. Buttons were being pressed by the narrator as he explained. The framework was something like an iPhone dark-themed (dark blue on black) messaging app, but instead of messages, each bubble represented a sequential element. Once an element finished doing its task, the element below would take its turn. The abilities of this program reached the behaviour of the phone and also had access to oracles. It was amazing, to be honest, but I was woken up and couldn't keep listening to the narrator's soothing voice.

When I woke up (thanks to the very loud thud of a door), I noticed that I had been hearing this foreign voice very realistically. Now that I was awake and the memory was very clear in my mind, these sounds seemed very real, as if I had actually been listening to someone speak. It was the feeling of the physical consequence of a dream. I wonder where my brain gets the voice samples from.

I've been avoiding commenting on this because it's fascinating on too many levels. But here goes. First of all, I'm re-interpreting what I've been told is a dream, which I've been informed of virtually. :D The "virtual-dream" seems to contain symbols that relate to Steemit, which is indeed the virtual portal from which I learned of this dream. Also, have you considered that your taking things from your immediate sleeping environment and incorporating them into your dreams? I do this and I believe it's something that happens to most people. Do you live with someone else that could have actually said something to you while you were sleeping? On a strange flip-side, your writing seems fictional, so I'm not sure if this is really a dream, or more of a symbolic writing style, which is just as cool. Wait a minute, what's even "real" anymore...? :D
