Have you ever tried an authentic Italian style pizza? Compared to what we see of Americanized pizzas today, the general appeal of having everything on it, a true old school Italian pizza seems to be lacking at first glance yet is on its own level being a mouthful of wonderful!

We have to give it to the Italians when it comes to food, particularly anything bread related. Italy is the birth place of so much cuisine yet here in North America we often do not get to enjoy those humble beginnings through what is now offered.

In our current age there are no limits on cuisine, if you wish to create a dish with the most rare ingredients the supplies are a mere order away. This means the culture which started many of our favourite creations is left to the side in experimentation. Yet we see places which insist on going back to the roots of it all and being inspired once more to create authentic cuisine to which little can compare.

The pizza is no exception starting as focaccia with only tomato sauce added to it. During the time of World War II allied troops staying in Italy brought home the idea and it evolved as everything does when traversing into a new culture giving birth to what we know today as the deluxe pizza being fully loaded with toppings.

Yet more isn’t always better with so many flavours crammed onto one piece of bread it can become hard to distinguish differences within the options. Simplicity is often best in a sense of our taste buds and the Italians have long since mastered the concept of fresh ingredients with simple recipes equals bold yet distinctly enjoyable flavours, it is the core idea of their culinary.

Luckily the Italians are also a stubborn bunch and cling to their roots like weeds in a garden you just cannot get rid of. I see many places opening up growing these roots back into the light of mainstream culinary. From simple recipes to even wood fired stone ovens every aspect of the authentic Italian pizza is being replicated all around North America, dare I say the world?

Like a tribute if you will, acknowledging that humble beginning and honouring those stubborn Italians for being true to their roots!

Great post.
I might have eaten original italian pizza once "by accident" (lacking any toppings, we had no choice). :)
In Venezuela, pizzas also evolved with the most unusual combination of ingredients. I loved the sea food pizzas. These days it is not only hard to afford a pizza (they became a luxury), but also to find a restaurant that prepares them. Most pizza joints went bankrupt and most franchises left the country.

Hello!  @d00k13 Pizza is definitely the favorite choice of many, especially the little ones at home.
@hlezama It is also true that it has become a luxury in our country, but there are options and alternatives to make them at home and we give smiles to our children to serve their favorite pizza for dinner

I'm a focaccia lover, not so much a pizza lover as we have come to know pizza in the US. but now and then one of those brick oven places make a product worthy of its Italian roots. 

Very thoughtful post! You and I should talk about food much more often!
