Tea consumption leads to epigenetic changes in women

I don't know if this news is good or bad for women who drink a lot of tea but the article references a study showing that tea consumption leads to epigenetic changes in women. In specific the changes are for genes associated with cancer and estrogen metabolism. Epigenetic changes are basically the triggers which turn our genes on or off.

At the same time there is another study showing daily tea consumption limits age related mental decline. This is actually baffling to me because they haven't really determined what exactly is the cause of age related decline or what is preventing it. It appears to be related somehow to genetic risk factors where some people are just by bad luck given a genetic risk for cognitive decline and drinking tea daily can reduce that risk by up to 86%. Again I don't know exactly what those numbers mean but it's worth investigating drinking more tea if you think you have the genes or if you're experiencing any sort of cognitive decline, but which teas is not something I currently know. Green tea has been implicated as having positive benefits for energy metabolism and if cognitive decline has to do with this mechanism it could be green tea but then green tea also have caffeine which has both positive and negative effects.
