# INTRODUCTION

Hello my dear steemians in this community, I am so glad to be here again to post on this contest concerning the invention of light bulb by Humphry Davy, in 1802. We all know that our electric bulbs play one or two roles in our lives today. Gone are those days we used kerosene lamps to light up our rooms which at the end of the day will produce smokes and which was dangerous to our health. Aside that the invention of light bulb was a godsent invention to the life of man. Like it or not light bulb has really impacted life in a positive way and has very little negative effects which not all including me can observe this effect.

**COMPARISON**

When comparing life before the arrival of electric light bulb in Africa, you will understand that the light bulb has done nothing but extreme good to us here in Africa. 

I can remember vividly when my grandmother told us a story of how she used to fetch snails with one sort of candle-like lamb the lamb was made of thin clothes lines passed through a hole in a can. It uses kerosene as fuel to light up. One day in the bush as they were fetching snails, they saw a big snake in the bush. They decided to run out of the bush, she said the bush was very big that people used to plant bit by bit from different locations. They were running and suddenly their light went off, imagine what you would look like if such had happened to you in the big bush such as that. They became stranded and scattered until morning she discovered she had arrived another place instead of home. 

What am I saying, if they had the privilege to have seen the electric light bulb, or even the rechargeable lamps that wouldn't have happened to them. The rechargeable light would be still shining no matter how the wind blew. The rechargeable lamp would only go off after showing signs of battery low.

**LIGHT BULBS IN BUSINESS PLACES**

I'm those days people used the kerosene lamps to stay until late in the night. But the kerosene lamps was not good for windy environments, even the glass places around the flame was unable to old wind back, the wind could pass through the space left for smoke and heat to displace and quench the flame. 

But today we use the light bulb and stay no matter what the time is and no matter the amount of wind. The light bulb when places in the lamp holder can hardly fell off. That's why even when heavy wind blows the bulbs are still intact.

**LIGHT BULBS FOR STUDENTS**
</div>
The light bulb helps students like me to read without having to worry about when I fell asleep. If a student read with candle light and suddenly fell asleep he/she is in a danger of setting the house on fire or being burnt. The candle light is dangerous because it is naked and then the kerosene lamps is also dangerous because if you sleep off while reading and mistakenly push down the lamp then you know what it is.

Students are advised to use light bulb instead of kerosene lamps for eye safety. Some light bulbs produce much heat that the candle or kerosene lamps. While some do not have an observable heat.

The electric light bulb has done much for man and has helped man in daily activities but some people underate the power of electric bulb in the advancement of life. Thank you for reading the contest post by me.
