In the last months there was a thought constantly circling round my brain.

- What if we turn Steemit into a MMORPG?
- What if everybody would have a character, could find items, attack or cast spells ?

Well, vacation time is over now, plannings have been done and now we are starting to clarify exactly that question.

**A Hackathon will be held on October 14/15 within my company.** The me will turn into a we. A handful of Developers will turn my ideas into software this whole weekend through.
 
 
Abstract
------

We will develop a MMORPG directly on Steemit and the underlying blockchain.

What is a MMORPG ?
------

The term **MMORPG** stands for **M**assive **M**ultiplayer **O**nline **R**ole **P**laying **G**ame. We will build additional functions around Steemit that allow for instance to equip certain items or to cast spells. A **battlesystem** will be **integrated** and every user will have the possibility to challenge and fight against others. Items will be spread around throughout Steemit and can be found during normal use of the platform.

How is this working ?
------

Technically speaking we will develop plugins for the browser that will enhance steemit with the functions we need. Everyone who is installing this is automatically a member of STEEMPUNK-NET and can perform all actions on steemit, like finding items, attacking enemies or casting spells.
 

The principle of the Game
------

During the last months I have developed and elaborated the principles of the game. A wiki will be built up containing all the documentation and pitfalls of the game.

One thing should be clearly said, the strength of a player is calculated by an algorithm that uses the activity of the user as one of its inputs. Additionally measures will be taken that prohibit the farming of smaller / weak accounts.
Being more active on Steem is resulting in more chances to win a fight. Account size or balance will not have an impact, so whales are not more likely to win a fight just because of their whale status.

With the calculation and inclusion of the activity on Steem of a user we strengthen the growth and support the platform in general, increasing its worth as a whole.

What happens after the Hackathon?
------

Well after the Hackathon is before the next one right ? The Hackathon on October 14/15 will be used to develop the base system, finetune the story, build up servers and check how well the game is working together with the blockchain of steemit.

But following the initial thought we will not stop at this point but work even harder to implement further steps to our goal. We are 100% commited to reach our goal.

We also want to set a sign with this project, a stimulation to think about different topics than just building another voting bot. There are so much more possibilities.

Be part of the first MMORPG ever to be created on a blockchain, together with the vast performance of Steem as a base.

Steemit braucht mehr als nur Bots, **Steemit braucht echte Interaktion!**
 
In den letzten Monaten schwirrte mir immer wieder eine Idee durch den Kopf.

- Was wäre wenn wir Steemit in ein MMORPG umwandeln?
- Was ist wenn jeder einen Charakter hätte, Gegenstände finden oder andere angreifen könnte?
 
Nun, die Urlaubszeit ist vorüber, die Grundplanungen getan, jetzt werden Nägel mit Köpfen gemacht und wir werden der Frage auf den Grund gehen.
 
**Am 14./15. Oktober werde ich in unseren Firmenräumen einen Hackathon veranstalten.** Aus dem ich, wird dann ein wir. Eine handvoll Entwickler und ich werden ein ganzes Wochenende lang meine Idee umsetzen.
 
 
Die Kernidee

Wir werden ein MMORPG direkt auf Steemit und der Blockchain aufsetzen.
 

Was ist ein MMORPG:
------
 
Ein **MMORPG**  = **M**assively **M**ultiplayer **O**nline **R**ole-**P**laying **G**ame
 
Wir werden Steemit um einige Funktionen erweitern, welche es dir, zum Beispiel, erlauben dich mit Gegenständen oder Zaubern auszustatten. Es wird ein **Kampfsystem integriert** und jedem Benutzer wird es möglich sein andere Benutzer herauszufordern. Gegenstände werden quer über Steemit verteilt werden und können beim normalen Benutzen der Plattform gefunden werden.

Wie soll das laufen?
------
 
Technisch werden wir Browserplugins entwickeln die Steemit um unsere Funktionen erweitern. Jeder der das Browserplugin installiert, meldet sich am STEEMPUNK-NET an und kann auf Steemit andere Benutzer angreifen, Gegenstände finden oder Zauber ausführen.
 

Das Spielprinzip
------
 
Ich habe in den letzten Monaten das Spielprinzip entwickelt und ausgearbeitet. Zur Dokumentation werden wir ein Wiki aufbauen, das alle Informationen und Fallstricke zum Spiel enthält.
 
Soviel sei gesagt, die Stärke eines jeden Spielers wird durch einen Algorithmus berechnet der unter anderem die Aktivität des Spielers mit einbezieht. Zusätzlich werden Schutzmechanismen eingebaut damit kleine / schwache Accounts nicht gefarmed werden können.
 
Wer aktiver auf Steemit ist, hat auch mehr Chancen Kämpfe zu gewinnen.
Es wird hier nicht auf die Accountgröße oder den Kontostand ankommen, ergo wer mehr Geld hat gewinnt NICHT automatisch die Kämpfe.
 
Durch das Einbinden und Berechnen der Aktivität eines Benutzers soll das Wachstum und die Verweildauer auf Steemit erhöht werden, was letztlich der Plattform als ganzes zu gute kommt.
 

Was passiert nach dem Hackathon?
------

Nach dem Hackathon ist vor dem Hackathon, berühmte Worte denen wir uns verpflichtet fühlen. Das Hackathon am 14./15. Oktober wird dazu dienen das Grundsystem zu erstellen, die Story zu verfeinern, Server aufzubauen und auszuloten wie das Spiel in Zusammenarbeit mit der Blockchain funktioniert.

Aber getreu dem oben genannten Leitsatz wird das Spiel danach sicherlich nicht in einem finalen Zustand sein sondern weitere Entwicklungsschritte benötigen, wir sind 100% commited unser Ziel zu erreichen.

Wir möchten mit diesem Projekt ebenfalls eine Anregung geben. Es lässt sich deutlich mehr auf dieser Blockchain bauen als Voting und Resteembots.
 
Sei dabei das erste MMORPG auf Basis einer Blockchain ins Leben zu rufen, mit dem extrem performanten Steemit als starker Basis.
