O halving tende sempre a valorizar o bitcoin
Você já ouviu falar no “bitcoin halving”? Se não, vou te explicar brevemente aqui o que isso significa.

O bitcoin foi projetado pelo seu criador Satoshi Nakamoto para recompensar os mineradores com o próprio bitcoin. Ou seja, bitcoins são criados “do nada” pra pagar os mineradores.

Mas essa recompensa também foi programada pra ir diminuindo com o tempo, sendo cortada pela metade a cada 4 anos aproximadamente. Para ser mais exato, a programação é a dada na tabela abaixo:

No início da sua vida cada bloco minerado era recompensado com 50 bitcoins. Hoje a recompensa já caiu para 12.5. E está previsto para o ano que vem o valor ser cortado pela metade novamente, passando a pagar “apenas” 6,25 BTC por bloco.

Existe até um site que faz essa contagem regressiva. No momento da criação dessa postagem ele mostra que faltam exatos 411 dias:

E porque esse “halving”, ou “corte pela metade” nas recompensas aos mineradores é importante para o preço do bitcoin? Por dois motivos.

O primeiro e mais óbvio é que menos bitcoins estarão sendo criados “do nada”, e isso obviamente tende a valorizar a moeda pois terão menos unidades em circulação.

O segundo motivo é que a mineração do bitcoin gasta energia, e não compensa minerar se a recompensa conseguida em bitcoins ficar abaixo do custo energético. Isso tenderá a fazer com que o bitcoin se valorize até reencontrar um equilíbrio lucrativo para a mineração.

Por esse motivo, e também pela forte desvalorização do ano passado, é razoável imaginar que estamos em um momento único do bitcoin, onde tudo aponta para uma bela valorização. Porém, embora a lógica seja essa, nem sempre os mercados seguem a lógica. Pode até ser que apesar de tudo isso o bitcoin continue a se desvalorizar, mas será uma surpresa se isso acontecer pois nesse momento tudo aponta para uma valorização.
