There are always a number of things for students to be anxious or depressed about through their education experience.

It could be the cost of schooling, the time away from family or friends while studying, or the difficulty in trying to get good grades etc. This year many students got to experience homeschooling for the first time and while it might be just what some families are looking for, others found it to be a complete nightmare. 

# Depression and anxiety with students is on the rise this year.
<center></center>One recent survey that investigated the rising rates of depression and anxiety *across several different public research universities*, discovered that more than [30 percent of both undergraduates and graduate students](https://patch.com/california/berkeley/uc-berkeley-student-depression-anxiety-soaring-during-pandemic-new-survey-finds) had screened positive for <b>major depressive disorder</b>, and *about 40 percent for anxiety disorder*.

# This is roughly a 50 percent increase compared to last year. 
<center></center>Right now there are millions of students who are wondering when they might see their friends again, or experience a 'normal' classroom setting, along with the myriad of other concerns they're juggling in daily life. 

Some have been forced to wonder if they might not even be able to stay in the country because of the changes that have been made to [their education structure for COVID-19](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/education/2020/07/30/college-student-visa-no-new-international-students-us-universities/5543220002/); they've had plenty of stress to deal with.

You might think that it's the best time ever to be a student because you get to do all of that learning online and take all of the tests online too (which is likely going to increase the prevalence of cheating on exams being that it's much easier to try and get away with it from home), but it isn't for everyone. Clearly, many are depressed and anxious about the current standard of things and they aren't alone.
