## It has been previously revealed that back in the 60s, the CIA had tried to implant microphones into cats in order to try and use them to spy on Russia. 

According to declassified documents, the effort which cost taxpayers millions of dollars, was informally called “Project Acoustic Kitty” and it had CIA agents implant microphones under the skin of the cats. Ideally, the tail was to be the antenna, a wire would travel up the spine and be connected to a microphone in the ear and there would also be a battery located in its chest.

Thanks to Wikileaks for the detailed report about the "Project Acoustic Kitty" because now discussion about the project has resurfaced. Also, the formal name that was used for the project was "<b>Views on Trained Cats [Redacted] for [Redacted] Use</b>." 

### According to a former CIA official he says that they “made a monstrosity” and the leaked memo shows that the agency saw the operation as a scientific achievement. 

Allegedly on their first test the robot-kitty was killed after being run over, after the CIA agents took it to the park to try and listen to the conversation of two men who were sitting on a bench. Rather than do the job, the cat wandered into the street and was then hit. The project was never fully deployed to the field.

## Cats aren't the only method that has been employed when trying to listen to the enemy. 

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) has also sought to create synthetic bug-cyborgs, like a Nano Hummingbird or DelFly Micro. 

But this cat project is just one more story among many that provides some baffling insight into what the CIA does with its time and our money. We've also heard about the CIA's escapades with studying LSD, their extracurricular activities with drug smuggling, and other questionable “operations” that they've engaged in over the years. 

## And what a waste of valuable resources to be funding an agency that has this affinity for pissing away money on fruitless endeavors such as this cat project.

There are some human rights experts and legal advocates who say that we should abolish the CIA, because it poses a threat to the rule of law as it seemingly operates with unchecked power. 

The organization has on repeated occasion demonstrated that it is going to perpetually undermine the rule of law, interfere with foreign nations, and fail to exercise any sort of basic morality. It's an organization that is responsible not only for the deaths of many guilty, but also for the deaths of too many innocent lives. 

Some say that this sort of agency is necessary to do the dirty work to keep people safe, but that isn't an assertion that everyone buys. The intelligence that the agency offers in return for these frequent scandals is said to be minimal at best. Allowing an agency to operate in this way, like a secret government, can likely bring about much more harm than good.
