Perfectionism

<div class="text-justify">According to Merriam Webster online dictionary

> Perfectionism is a disposition to regard anything short of perfection as unacceptable

In other words, it is the belief that everything one must do has to be perfect. Perfectionist are always living an anxious lifestyle because they've set for themselves extremely high standards. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying not to make mistakes in life but it is wrong once it becomes an unhealthy pursuit of excellence. There are two common types of perfectionism which will be briefly discussed

### <center><div class="phishy">Self oriented perfectionism</div></center>

This is the type of perfectionism that involves an individual setting high standards for himself/herself, monitoring one's own action, and seeking errors in oneself. Self-oriented perfectionist tends to blame themselves a lot even though what happens to them is beyond their control. Self-oriented perfectionism can have a depressive effect on an individual. It has also been linked to life-threatening disorders such as anorexia nervosa.

### <center><div class="phishy">Other oriented perfectionism</div></center>

This is the type of perfectionism where an individual tends to criticize everyone around them including friends, family, and co-workers. Only the things they do are perfect and what others do are not. Although people with this sort of perfectionism are good at leadership roles, but they have to be careful in keeping their judgment sense in check.

### <center><div class="phishy">How can you stop trying to be a perfectionist?</div></center>
In order to stop being a perfectionist, you must first have to reconsider your expectations. You must have to be honest with yourself that being perfect all the time is an unrealistic goal, as it is normal for us and others to make mistakes. Sometimes we aren't even aware when we make mistakes because we're imperfect and we are bound to make mistakes. Keeping in mind that we and others are bound to make mistakes will help us in reconsidering our expectations.

When we find ourselves or others not doing a perfect job, we should try as much to not lay blames on yourself or others. In addition, having a good sense of humour when we or others make a mistake can also help in putting ourselves in check by not laying blames on anyone.</div>
