After dropping Aryanne off at her grandma’s, he finally returned his father's text. 
	
**On my way home now, are you there?**

**Yes.  Come to the study.**

He sighed and tossed the phone on the seat wondering what this was about.  

Twenty minutes later he walked into the study and sprawled out on the black leather armchair, waiting for his father to finish a call. It struck him that this room no longer provided the comfort it once had, nor did his father’s company, in fact the opposite was true.

James ended the call and placed his arms on the desk, steepling his hands in front of him and as usual his expression gave nothing away. He didn’t say a word for several seconds and Grayson had to fight the urge to fidget. 

“So how are things going with your young lady?” He asked finally.

“Good.”

James cocked his head to the side slightly and Grayson’s stomach knotted.  His father rarely gave anything away with body language so even the tiniest change in him was monumental.  And this particular “tell” meant something was bothering him.  Immensely.  Either that or he wanted Grayson to think that was the case.  

“Good,” James said the word like he was tasting something he didn’t particularly like. He sat forward and pinned his son with an icy gaze.  “I would not describe your relationship with that…girl as good.  No, in fact I would apply the opposite sentiment.  I thought I had cleared things up for you regarding her, that you understood your so-called feelings were nothing more than your teenage hormones affinity for her cunt.  But I can see my faith in you has been woefully misplaced.  This is the first time I have ever had cause to be disappointed in you.”

Grayson kept his face neutral as his father spoke.  Although his initial reaction was to wonder how his father had discerned the truth, years of training made him pick it apart logically.  And logically there was no way for his father to know which meant he was setting a trap.  

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he responded carefully, keeping his voice even.  

James narrowed his eyes.  “No?”

“I am merely playing the game, and doing very well I might add.”

James stared at him and Grayson held his gaze unwaveringly.

A slight smile formed on his father’s face.  “Hmm.  Perhaps.  But I think a test is in order, don’t you?”

Everything inside Grayson froze.  “A test?”

James nodded.  “Yes.  A test.  As of this moment you are done with her, she does not exist for you. And tomorrow you will treat her like a stranger.”

Grayson’s hands fisted in his lap.  “I thought she was supposed to be the next level of the game.  A year long endeavor.”

James waved a hand, dismissing it. “You told me you were confused about your feelings for her and I should have listened.  But I was certain you would come to the right conclusions.”

“I did,” Grayson responded woodenly. “She is nothing more than an extremely enjoyable piece of ass, one I wish to keep until I tire of it.”

“So you are saying the only thing about her you will miss is between her legs?”

“Of course, I’d like to concentrate on something other than my dick this year, and daily sex makes that possible.” 

James smiled again and picked up his phone.  A moment later the door to the study opened and a beautiful Hispanic woman walked into the room.  Grayson’s stomach sank.

“Grayson this is Terasa, the perfect solution to your problem.”

Terasa smiled as she stopped in front of him and held out a slender and prettily manicured hand.  “Hello, Grayson.”

He eyed it with distaste and turned to his father. “I thought we were in mutual accord when it came to prostitutes.” 

“Go wait in the hall, Terasa,” James instructed.  She nodded and walked out.

James gave his son a hard look.  “Terasa is not a prostitute.  She is a high-end escort, one who has never taken money for sex, until now.  She is clean and takes regular shots for birth control which means you are free to ejaculate in her.  She will do anything you want, you can think of her as a living sex toy, here solely for your pleasure.”

“Everything except have a genuine orgasm.”

“Wrong.  I am perfectly aware of your feelings about that.  I’ve done a great deal of research into her personal life and she’s proven to be highly sexually receptive.  And as I said she will be yours to do with as you please so if you feel she is faking it, correct her.  Slap her, whip her, whatever works.”

Grayson’s eyes widened at the image his father's words inspired.  

James smiled.  “Shall I have her sign the contract?”

He stared at his father without responding. He could almost see the horns sprouting from his head.  *I am the son of Satan*, he thought numbly.  

“Of course, this is contingent on you following my orders and cutting off contact with the girl,” James added.  

“And if I don’t?” The challenge in his words died the instant he met his father’s gaze, transforming into bone-numbing fear.  

Without saying a word James conveyed his message as effectively as if he’d shouted it.  Aryanne would be out of the picture one way or another and there wasn’t a thing Grayson could say or do to stop it.  Too much money and too much power.  The moment James had made this decision he had lost her as surely as if she had left the world, which could become a heartbreaking reality if Grayson continued to balk.  

Grief smashed against him like a violent storm, so utterly overwhelming that he had only one recourse. Reaching deep inside himself he found the switch for his emotions and shut it down. The burning behind his eyes receded, the tightness in his throat relaxed.  By the time he looked back up at his father he was once more devoid of anything resembling warmth.   

“Bring her in, have her sign, I want her tied to my bed in fifteen minutes.” He stood as is father nodded.

“Good choice.”

Grayson gazed at him levelly in response before turning and leaving the room.

James watched his son stride away and allowed himself a satisfied smile as the door shut behind him.  He’d been correct in thinking Grayson had plunged headfirst into the dangerous arena of emotions. This was the real reason he had encouraged his son to continue the game, to see whether his speech about love as a form of religion had set Grayson straight, or whether he'd be pulled in by her ideals instead.  The latter had occurred as he'd feared.  He’d watched as pain flashed across his son’s face when he’d correctly interpreted the gaze James had pinned on him- or what he'd wanted him to interpret- that he would dispose of her if need be.  

He wasn't overly concerned for his son, it was a simple matter of immaturity that would change in time.  It would only be dangerous if he allowed it to continue, allowed the girl to sink her hooks in too deep.  

He’d enjoyed seeing his progeny shut down his emotions, though in actuality it was simply him regaining some control over them. Something his ‘feelings’ for the girl had made him lose.  And despite how empty things might seem at the moment, it wouldn’t last.  He himself had once questioned whether there was more to love than his rational mind could explain, but time and again he'd found if you dug deep enough you found that it was nothing more than the subconscious creating an explanation for basic needs of the body, or desires of the ego.  And at Grayson's age those needs were overwhelming, particularly with his particular affliction.  

James had no doubt he would rise above it.
