There are a few things that can be blame on genuine racism but honestly these crimes are few and far between.
Far more prevalent is media-created racism: some can be attributed to racism depending on how the speaker / listener decides to perceive the situation, others can be made to appear to look like racism using deceptive presentation tactics, and then the cream of the crop of BS is to completely ignore the elephant in the room and just make crap up using absolute garbage logic.
Unfortunately, the last option is what NBC News decided to invoke in a recent [total bastardization of journalism penned by 3 people](https://news.yahoo.com/gun-violence-surging-cities-hitting-135128869.html) in their organization.

Shootings and gun deaths in urban areas such as Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, New York City, and Atlanta are all up, WAY UP, in the past few weeks and since no one in the media wants to address the quite obvious issue that this is a **direct result** of the disbanding and demoralizing of police across the nation, they reach into their deck and pull out the omnipresent race card.
The recent uptick in shootings and death have been categorized by race and since they (the media) are now lumping all non-white people into the same category by calling them the profoundly stupid term "people of color," it has been revealed that the victims of these shootings are 97 percent people of color.

As they say, "never let a good crisis go to waste," and the apologists who refuse to accept that not everything can be blamed on Caucasians go to great lengths and stretch like Armstrong to make the fallacious connection that these gun violence victims are somehow a group of innocent people that are driven to violence... somehow at the behest of white people. Oh and of course it is the guns' fault as well.

Yeah, racism is why people grow up without a father, end up in gangs and in the drug trade, a live a life of abject violence and this of course all comes back to white people, right?
The article explains that shootings occur at more than 5 times the rate in minority communities than they do in white communities. Here's the thing and I am not talking about country-club areas with massive barriers to entry either: There is nothing, nothing at all, preventing minorities from moving to "white areas," whatever that means. There is no wall blocking you out and no one can legally prevent a minority from moving there.

Many "experts" talk about societal inequalities that are holding minorities back but they fail to mention that these "barriers" that they refer to actually have government-sponsored shortcuts and the only thing you need in order to access them is to be a minority. Racism exists in an individual and there isn't a lot that can be done about that. However, this suggestion that the US government has a hand in this is pure nonsene.
There are racist laws that exist in America... that is, there are numerous programs that give advantageous treatment to anyone who is a citizen and non-white. It's called Affirmative Action and will give preferential treatment to any POC that desires to go to college or to work for any government office. It is called The Minority Owned Business Act where government agencies are required to give preferential treatment (in bids for contracts) to ANY business that is minority owned.
There are no programs that are officially mandated by the government that has this feature towards whites.
Have we ever considered that the violence in these minority communities might have something to do with the people that live in that actual community? That it might have something to do with the culture in these communities?

This pointing of the finger towards whites any time that anything goes wrong is old and anytime racism is brought up there isn't one...single....law... that exists on the books anywhere in America that is holding these people back... the communities themselves are holding themselves back. The violence could be stopped if there was MORE law enforcement... but these communities don't want law enforcement, which is evidenced by the BLM movement.
So if you want peace, but your community doesn't move toward peace but instead gravitates towards violence, but you don't want police to stop the violence and actively push for their removal, then when crime gets worse due to the absence of police you blame it on white people..
I don't expect much from any media source but this article by NBC looks more like Vox or Daily Beast article in that it has zero evidence to back up anything that it states other than a few quotes from some random people. This is propaganda that is simply adding more gasoline to the fire. This is irresponsible reporting.
