### Nearly 1 in 3 American workers run out of money before payday—even those earning over $100,000 (FEB 2020)

>CNBC: Going extra light at the grocery store. Cutting down on medical supplies. Buying clothing and household supplies secondhand.

EARTH CUSTODIANS: Seems like degrowth is on its way, though not in some kind of voluntary fashion. People are forced into rationing by the endless economic growth delusion while still working 40hrs weekly or more. The system is doing just fine from a central bank perspective though: this is a rat race. 

> For about a third of Americans, this is a regular financial stress, with 32% running out of money before their next paycheck hits, according to a new survey fielded by Salary Finance of over 2,700 U.S. adults working at companies with over 500 employees.

It is all good for pharmaceuticals and the healthcare industry as stress is the ultimate silent killer. Adrenaline shoots high when stressed out and transforms into glucose and even can alter hormonal functions affecting the liver, weight and of course blood sugar among many other things. Of course, this is a bounty for banks and credit card firms that rake up more than $30 billion in fees (ATM fees included)  yearly in America. Overdraft protection must be a real goldmine when so many are cash strapped. In 2017, it was reported that banking fees were already close to 40 percent of banks' income!

When people are so dependent on banks to extract more than what they earn on a regular basis, they become the best voters the system can buy.

Being a paycheck away from homelessness is definitely challenging. Paying bills late does impact the credit score and generates late fees too.  People like Amy and her husband earning $50K represent 40% of the population.

The real issue is that living beyond one's mean can be witnessed across the board. TV commercials are just doing what they are intended to do, make people dream of a more comfortable existence and they fall for the illusion. 

But meanwhile, the planet is destroyed for practically nothing!

Materialist attachment is the result of a poor perception of reality. But that's how we are trained from birth. Time to degrow the world economy! The planet does not need more successful people but healers and restorers. 

As we can see by now, society moves toward a full checkmate and that should remind us that success means absolutely nothing.  The article recommends building up a savings cushion but that is impossible to do unless one is willing to downgrade one's lifestyle by much, homeschooling, ready to ditch one's TV and starting one's own garden while encouraging relatives and neighbors to do the same.
