Tanaman hidroponik tidak memerlukan penyiraman dan tanah sebagai media nutrisi. Tanamanhidroponik mendapatkan nutrisi dari air yang telah ditambahkan zat nutrisi. Oleh karena itu tanaman hidroponik tidak boleh diletakkan di tempat terbuka tanpa atap karena ditakutkan zat nutrisinya akan terbawa oleh air hujan.
