Psalm 114 is a glorious and marvelous composition that exalts the majesty of God's power with which he delivered his people Israel from the yoke of slavery in Egypt, allowing his great power to turn back both the waters of the Red Sea and those of the Jordan and introduce his precious people into the land he had promised to the great patriarchs of faith, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The author of this important psalm wrote:
#
>**When Israel came out of Egypt,
the house of Jacob from the foreign peoples,
2 Judah became his sanctuary,
And Israel his dominion.
3 The sea saw it and fled;
The Jordan receded.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, The hills like lambs.
The hills like lambs.
5 What have you, O sea, that you should flee?
And you, O Jordan, why do you turn back?
6 O mountains, why did you leap like rams
and you mountains like lambs?
7 At the presence of the LORD the earth trembles.
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 who has changed the rock into a pool of water
and the rock into a fountain of waters. Psalm 114 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)**.

When God brought Israel out of Egypt He did so in such a way that He manifested the glory of His power through 10 prodigious plagues that caused torment and suffering on Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Each plague that God sent upon the Egyptians testified to the greatness of His power that was above the simplicity of the pagan gods of Egypt. With the last plague, called "The death of the firstborn of the Egyptians," God sealed his power over Pharaoh so that he would let the Hebrews go free and they would serve him in the wilderness. God brought the people of Israel out of slavery with an iron hand and showed them His power so that they would trust and believe that the Lord is mightier than the pagan gods of the nations of the earth. God's purpose was to choose one of the tribes of Israel to build a sanctuary for Him and worship Him wholeheartedly. The Lord was pleased to choose the tribe of Judah, in which God made a promise to David that there would not fail to be a man of his seed to sit on the throne of Israel. David purposed in his heart to build the sanctuary to God, however, the Lord chose Solomon son of David to build the temple for God to dwell in the midst of his people. All this is very glorious and beautiful. God chose Israel as his people and Judah as the place of his sanctuary, just as the author of this psalm wrote:
#
>**When Israel came out of Egypt,
the house of Jacob from the foreign peoples,
2 Judah became his sanctuary,
And Israel his dominion. Psalm 114: 1-2**

When we tell the story of how God brought Israel out of Egypt, everything seems exciting and interesting. It is not a fantasy story, but a real and true story, exalting the power of God to break down the obstacles that prevented Israel from crossing the desert and reaching the Promised Land. The truth is that God had to divide the waters of the Red Sea and lead the people of Israel through the dry land, so that their enemies would be trapped in the waters of the Sea when God brought them back together. I imagine the Hebrews on the other side of the Red Sea saving themselves and singing glorious praises that exalted God's liberating power.
The majesty of God's glory did not stop there by the Red Sea, but when the people of Israel arrived at Mount Sinai, after traveling through a long desert, the mountains leaped like rams and lambs, because God was giving the moral Law to Moses to lead the people to the Promised Land and put into practice what the Law said. How wonderful it is to see the people in front of the Jordan River and their eyes set on the glory of God's power with which He caused the waters of the Jordan to divide and the people to pass victoriously to conquer and possess the Promised Land. As it is written in Psalm 114:
#
>**The sea saw it and fled;
The Jordan receded.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
The hills like lambs. Psalm 114: 3-4**

The author of this beautiful psalm tries to humanize the natural elements affected by the power of God and asks them:
#
>**5 What did you have, O sea, that you fled?
And you, O Jordan, that you should turn back?
6 O mountains, why did you leap like rams
and you mountains like lambs? Psalm 114: 5-6**
#
If the Red Sea and the Jordan were to answer these questions, surely their silence would give the best answer, for who can speak in the presence and power of God? To be silent is better than to speak and tremble. When God manifests his power, his glory makes everything move and transform. God is extremely powerful and when he has a plan of deliverance with someone or a nation, God fulfills it to the fullest even if he has to remove heavens and earth.

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. God's presence is everywhere, because simply put, God is Omnipresent. It is very important to be careful what we speak and what we do, because God is present when we speak internally with our own thoughts. God searches the mind and the heart. In his presence the earth trembles and cannot be contained by the power of God. Throughout the wilderness God was present with Moses and with the people of Israel, so much was his presence, that God listened when the people complained about all things and God rebuked them. The people forgot that when they were thirsty, God gave them water from the precious rock, which is Christ. Christ is the fountain of sweet water that the Hebrews drank in the desert and that the Christian people drink today until the day of his coming to heaven.

At the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 who changed the rock into a pool of water,
