In recent weeks many are talking about autonomous cars that will not require a driver. But Boeing decided to go one step further and announced a technology that would allow long-haul flights without the need for remote control of the machine.

Boeing's announcement sounds bold, but the company is set to launch its first technology test in 2019 . . It uses artificial intelligence that will make the same decisions as the pilot during the flight.

Mike Sinnet, Boeing's vice president, said that autonomous planes are a song of the future, but that the technology already exists.
